My brother gave me some advice when I was younger and I think it applies here.

I'm not an expert at spotting fakes, but if you'd like to learn how to post the images you have here in order to get more opinions, I made a quick tutorial on this thread (click "show" under the "HOW TO PUT THE BADGE IN YOUR SIGNATURE"): https://www.funkofunatic.com/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=95988
Start from step 3 and treat the badge I talk about as an image you want to post.
Make an Imgur account, upload a photo, open that image in a new tab, then copy and paste its link for step 4.
Feel free to PM me for help!

We definitely gotta be careful now more than ever with Kobe pops since they are most likely gonna try to capitalize on his passing.

Re: REAL OR FAKE KOBE BRYANT FUNKO POP
Looking at the $20 fakes from China on eBay versus those that are listed for hundreds of dollars, one can quickly see differences.
1. The "Kobe Bryant" name and "VINYL FIGURE / CHIFFRE DE VINYLE /" lines are the same length on the authentic box. Kobe Bryant is shorter on the fake.
2. The fakes have a wide white border around the Kobe image cutout.
3. Fakes don't have the NBA logo on Kobe's shirt, on the box.
4. Fakes don't have the shoelaces painted.
5. Fake yellow #24 has white bordered shorts, authentic yellow has purple.
6. Authentic yellow #24 has yellow arm band.
Shall I continue?
Do your own research, it's easy. This fake has been released ASAP and I doubt any have made it to the USA yet. The fake will get better when they move to version #2 and fake version #3.

I dont know. I have 2 i bought in 2015 that arent consistent with what is listed above for fake vs real. Cant imagine they would be faking a $15 pop back then. I thought they also released these as part of Pop Asia?
Pop Life i believe? Have one of both, and neither has an arm band, but both have shoe laces painted. This is a tough one. Box usually gives away the fake tho. Its never the same material as a normal pop, at least from what ive seen.

I'm just pointing out the difference between the pop being sold for $20 BIN on eBay vs those sold in the past before Kobe died.
There is some discrepancy about point #1 though, you can discount that one as that does vary on the boxes.
A Yellow #4 was sold before death with armband and one was sold without. I don't know if that is a real variant. This one requires in depth research to determine exactly what is real and what isn't. My off the cuff analysis is suspect and should be done by someone that is into this line and has experience with them, like FredKrueger.
Still, I don't think Chinese sellers would be listing these at $20 if they weren't being mass produced NOW.

Re: REAL OR FAKE KOBE BRYANT FUNKO POP
Yikes! That looks like a fake IMO because of that wide white border along the Kobe cutout
Also I didn't see the product number underneath the box. I may be wrong here but don't all pops have the DRM, JJL, or FAC number on the bottom?

Unfortunately, he is a fake one.
There are a few things that I spotted comparing to mine.
1) There is a NBA logo on top of the name Bryant at the back of the jersey.
2) The height of the foot stamps is shorter on mine especially the FM2023.
3) The fake box like what other people said the white border is wider on the head.
4) On the bottom of my box, I have the square sticker of Poplife and a FM label. Also, the middle number on the bar code is closer together and longer in height.
5) On the top of my box, kobe head is wider compare to your box.

SInce I am 100% with the NBA Pops, I have both Yellow #24 with and without armband. The one with the armband is 2013 version and by Mindstyle and the one without the armband is 2015 version and by Poplife. The molds are different for the two. The NBA logo is on the front for 2013 and is on the back for 2015.

I always wondered about the armband, i think that settles it. I mean, as long as you didnt overpay for a fake, id say its ok. At least got the pop for a low price, sad that people exploit a tragedy, but its been like that for a very long time.
