Why so fragile?

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Why so fragile?

Postby Ilovefunko » Mon Nov 30, 2020 10:31 am

Bumped into a shelf today, a glass cross and Masked Alex Delarge mini both fell off hit my desk then the floor. Freaking out I inspected the glass cross for cracks, nothing. Woo-hoo dodged a bullet and placed them both back on the shelf...wait Alex looks different #-o no nose, his #$&@ nose broke off. What a bummer. Anyone else have any Funko misfits with broken parts?
I also had a Funko Vynl Snow Miser with broken nose. Now I see why some collectors never remove from box ](*,)

I had an Ultron mini that came with a piece broken off straight out the box. Luckily it was an easy re-glue. I have some minis i wont even display because their weapons look so fragile.

I dunno if you know about them, but glue dots are well-liked by many collectors. This doesnt fix the broken nose on Alex but it can be used on the bottoms of the toy feets to keep them in place on your display.

Best of lucks!

Sorry to hear. I have a lot of minis and this has never happen. They have fallen over 8 feet with no damage. Like others said, gorilla glue maybe for the fix?

I actually have a "collection" of broken misfits that came broken in the box. The Galadriel head was broken off and I glued that back on, but it's still part of the collection. Several of the bobble heads didn't have enough glue to hold their heads on, and then lots of little pieces broken off or missing.

Ive had a few that have broken and thankfully they were only like 1/6 so they were easily replaceable.

My minis have done rather well over the years, though I can see how some could be more prone to breaking.

I had to buy small bases for the adventure calendar minis because if you breathed wrong the whole shell would tumble over.... those don't even really have a box I could pit them in lol. Haven't had an issue with any Mystery minis though so I guess I'm lucky. They are a harder vinyl they do feel more brittle though... I guess because it's more dense for smaller features.

I have collected many mini lines and I have to say the Paka Paka Toilet Ninjas were the worst for breakage. Probably close to 10% of the ones I opened had something wrong. At least most of them fell apart in a way that they could be easily glued back together, only a few were truly broke. I have always been surprised by where some of these fall apart. I never would have guessed they were being manufactured as so many separate small parts.

My wife's Clark Griswald broke as well. His moose mug snaped off little glue and balance is restored to the universe.

I've had some minis with breaks — some out of box and others after minor falls. I think it just depends on the design — some are held by such thin pieces of vinyl to match the scale, they can be a bit fragile.

I think the same goes for Pops. My HT Dark Phoenix had a separation accident because of her precarious pose

I got an Incredibles mini from Gamestop on clearance and it was Elastigirl in 4 different pieces. I didn't really try to repair her because she's so tiny and I already had one, but it was pretty impressive that it got that banged up while in package.

I live life on the edge and display on random shelves. But museum putty is great if you don't want them to fall, and they stay in place even if you aggressively dust lol

I got it off Amazon, it seems expensive until you realize how far the tub goes and you don't need a whole ton of it if you set it right.

I bit the bullet recently and don't regret it. Especially for PPK and minis since you really don't need that much, the tub goes a looong way.
