That's a pretty insightful perspective. I think you are right on. Plus size..I think collections of larger items are a little harder to keep..or at least not run out of room quickly.

I have always liked them but with their size, I just never had the space to display them. Of course now with the 10" Pops we are running into the same trouble...

I color on the Skeletors was amazing. The metallic one is really something. Still hoping this line gets re-energized in some form.

My own feeling, people start a collection because it’s something they like. Then, value enters the picture, since no one collects with the hope it will go down in value. With that being said, I like my Hikari Bats, but I won’t expect the value to rise.
I guess it depends on the person. There are a lot of things in my collection that I know are probably worthless to most people, even other collectors, since they aren't popular anymore. Don't even know if they would sell for retail anymore. But I like the items and enjoy them so their value doesn't matter to me.
I agree. I think it’s with any collection. Some will be higher and some will be lower. That’s the fun of a collection I think
Yeah, I think that is the whole point of a collection. Collecting what you like because you like it.

I think this market is very niche. I don’t see it blowing up in price or popularity. It hard enough for 500 to sell out and the interest seem not to be there unfortunately.

Nope. Been since 12 Days of Christmas 2016 since we saw a new full-size piece release (red Huckleberry Hound). Saw one last Hikari XS 2-pack in Fall '17. For some reason this thread just will not die.

Fun time back when there were releasing new ones. Limited edition sizes being high, price point, and size of pieces prevented a critical mass that could drive sustained success.

I don't these will blow up at all. The value of a LE 500 slowly decreases due to not enough supply and demand

Unfortunately all true points. For a smaller company Hikari could have been a "hit" but compared to the Pop! juggernaut I can completely understand allocating the resources for Hikari to a different line. A fun run while it lasted...

Now if we could just put a nail in the coffin for this thread I would be happy. The line has been MIA for almost 3 years now yet ever so often someone has to chime in with "I don't think Hikari will blow up because they are too expense/big/weird/I can buy 6 pops/I don't get it/the moon is made of cheese/Hikari didn't kill themself/tasted like poo/etc." ...thanks folks, we get it. Nothing new to add to except maybe your post count.
This thread just makes me sad.

Nah, you're cool. The random chime ins that just come along to poo-poo the line need to find somewhere else to pad their post count.

Re: Anybody Think Hikari will Blow up?
I think Hikari was before it's time, designer toys have blown up and I feel like Hikari could have done better in this market. I really only started liking them a couple years ago after their "demise" and now I'd really like to see certain characters get the Hikari treatment even though my favorites are still Freddys and Stormtroopers.

Re: Anybody Think Hikari will Blow up?
I LOVE Hikari figures but what turns me off/away is the retail price point. Up to $80 for a store exclusive is killer. Fortunately the few that I have I was able to get on clearance for various stores and sites over the years.

Yeah I think the price point is what hurts hikari. I like the ones I have, but $80 is tough when they have so many awesome pops in lines like Disney and Freddy.

Yup. And should also avoid:
Soda - because they're not Pop
Dorbz - because they're not Pop
Minis - too small to hold value
Hikari - too foreign to hold value
Pez - too sweet to hold value
Spastik Plastik - why collect characters nobody has every heard of, no appreciation
Commons - they'll never go up in value
Chases - not as hard to find as they once were, no appreciation
Exclusives - overproduced, no appreciation
Somebody else's grails - they're covered in eyeprints, devalued because of it.
Boxless pops - everybody knows the real money is in the box
Stickerless pops - everybody knows the real money is in the sticker
Protos - they're unpainted and everybody knows the real money is in the paint
Game of Thrones - show's cancelled, pop are worthless
Variants - the first ones are cool, everything else is overdone, original pop looked better, won't appreciate because it looks weird.
