They started around 2014 and looks like the mini hikari figures lasted until middle-end of 2018! I think the price point was a little tough on the full size hikari figures but some of them were amazing colorways

I have always thought this myself, they always looked so cool with all the colors and all.
Great line, but sad see they didn't last too long.

Like Oatmealman said, 2018 sounds about right for full sized Hikari. They did a small run of mini Hikari as well before the whole idea died.

The Hikari price point was really the nail in the coffin. The average US consumer (and funkos target market) are not really into "Designer Toys".

Just to add - aside from the price point, full sized Hikari had different scales which makes it a bit tough to collect as well, as the boxes had different sizes (some were a bit wide - like Stay Puft - while some are a bit of a shoe box shaped) - like Deadpool or Boba Fett or Batman (top of mind).

This was my initial reaction when it first released, so this discouraged me in collecting the full sized one. But I have a handful of the mini Hikaris :)

Kinda sad though. but i think hikari resembled sofubi and prob appeals more towards the asian collectors (i see more asians collecting them, that is)

Hikaris could really bring out the difficult colourways like swirling, nebula and many more compared to the normal pop line but frankly the demand for them is kinda small.

have afew hikaris and definitely my fav is the ECCC megazord glow hikari! haha

I got all the Stitch Hikari (even the rarest colorway) after hunting them all down! The market was very specific but there's lots of sofubu collectors in the designer toy market, myself included. Also during that time, Funko Pops kind of took over in pop culture in terms of popularity.

IIRC The Red Huckleberry Hound from the 2017 12 Days of Christmas was the last "official" full size Hikari release. A few unproduced/unannounced samples surfaced afterwards but that was it for the big guys and official releases… ](*,)

Exactly, the full size hikari were awesome looking, iirc they ran about $80 which was a bit much for me at the time.

i still have quite a few of the hikari. i think they should make a few that make sense. i don't like that they completely abandoned it. i loved the transformers and motu ones.

I always loved this the various colorways glitter and molds. Maybe bringing some back in the future could be in the cards in a fresh remaining way

Hikari were great but I think really it was a price point that killed him the line. If I remember the standard size range from 85 to 100 depending on where you bought it retail. Not a lot of people were keen about paying that much so I think they didn’t buy that line as much and that means that it wasn’t a great seller for Funko in the end.

Thats what I thought at the time about the price point, but don't seem to have an issue paying for the die cast line :roflmao:

The le100 hikari are awesome. Especially the hulk one. Wish they would make some more, especially some with even fewer pieces than 100

I doubt we’ll see new ones, but they’re finally starting to sell a bit better on the secondary market

I dodnt realize the line went as long as it did. It was cool bit expensive. I only have a couple but they do stand out with my other stuff.

I also noticed a few Hikari figures in our local comic/toy stores in SoCal. Sadly prices they were selling were a little too steep compared to the ones being sold online. Wish funko expanded this line a little bit more before they d/c.
