Dorbz “Sweating”

So I’ve read threads on here (and maybe made one) about vinyl sweat when it pertains to Spastiks, but I’ve noticed lots of my Dorbz have a substance on them as well. It’s mainly the early runs like Spider-Man and some of the DC Dorbz, but they look dusty/dirty. It’s easily wiped off, but it’s weird. It’s not actually dust, but a thin film of some sort.

Sorry for rambling, but wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else lol

I hear it's contagious so if your Dorbz are close to your Pops, it's only a matter of time. :eek:

A couple months ago, I noticed my Jimmy Hendrix Funko Force also developed the sweats.

Haven’t really noticed - as I just take out mine if I will take some snaps - and is returning them back to their packages.

Will try to observe more vigilantly next time.

Same here. I've seen this occur on a few vinyl items, mostly Kidrobot, back in the day. I've found many Funko products have a white dusty film or something like that at points of articulation or crease, but it also wipes off pretty easily. None of mine are sweatin to the oldies yet though!

If anything, I've seen a few wacky wobblers from the early to mid-wobbler days, out of box, in my offices at work that have a sticky exterior now, I assume do to age/dust breaking down the plastic.....kinda gross and sad

My LTJ bobble banks all had sweating. Similar to me in a pit at a LTJ show....

I've had some of my older pops do this. Ones from 2012-2013 specifically. Might be quality of vinyl maybe?

I think this is extremely dependent on environment. If your vinyl is in a temperate, climate-controlled area, they should be ok.

It's not environment related. It's just vinyl getting older and becoming sticky like older toys.

Basement is fully finished and humidity levels always kept between 30-50%. It's also only on the older Dorbz which leads me to believe early on the vinyl they used is the problem.

So over time are they just sweating and getting a weird grayish coating that can easily be wiped off or are they getting super sticky?

Hmmm.... i haven't noticed this on any of my dorbz yet. I'll take a closer look at the cabinets and see. They're all OOB like yours so any sweating/discoloration should show up.

Yes, I'm thinking as time goes on new technologies will mitigate the "sweat" issue, going forward. But who knows...perhaps not.
