The typical head count in the Machester's Seaport ballroom has been around 2,000 over the last several years, I'd be willing to bet that the ticket count will be way higher next year. Hopefully that means more Funatics will get to experience the energy of Fundays!

Yeah, I was there when it was announced but it sounded like it was still up in the air. I believe Mike said it'd be closer to 10,000 people if they locked in the new venue - I merely wanted to know if that was set in stone already.

I feel bad for this years party patrol. 2,000 people was hard enough do deal with, 10,000 people is going to be crazy lol. I can't wait.

Bring ear plugs, wondercon was pretty loud.

You will have an excellent time , just dont rely on winning tickets to the funko booth through the lottery. You will probably have more luck waiting in a stand by line, Actually you are probably more guaranteed to get into fundays this year over everything else. fundays capacity is usually around 1200 people? how many are you expecting to be able to attend in this new venue?

I think 10,000 ruins the intimacy, but 10,000 also allows more people to go, but the allure of Fundays isn't the show, it's what you get, and 10,000 would ruin the limited availability of everything. I'm torn

Seconded, because I've been to Fundays three times now and it is ALWAYS pretty loud! My friend had to leave really early last year because it was just so much to take in.

Still super fun! Just crazy loud, lots of flashing lights, *constant* screaming haha XD

And on SDCC wants... I'm just hoping for *something* in a genre/property that I'm a big fan of. Top three for me would be new Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, or Doctor Who. Game of Thrones dragons. HALO. Newer Star Wars? I have so many that I'm a fan of, I'm just not the biggest anime fan or a MARVEL collector XD

With the big venue it should be easier to get tix, instead of only allowing like 2000 people to buy, now it could be like 5000 and up

While capacity is much larger I hope they keep it to 4K-5k. Doubling the attendance will be great for people trying to get tickets in the general sale, but anything too large (like 8k-10k) may take the special feel away. Not to mention how much higher the piece count will be for the exclusives.

I definitely think expanding Fundays opens up a world of fun possibilities (which is the point, right? To create more fun?) but I also agree that making it too large could definitely impact the unique and special nature of it. There’s definitely a happy compromise somewhere in there.

Agreed... too big. I think it's about the ego. Funko does not really need a small event to to make it special. They want the headlines of a big event, exclusivity, is no longer the goal. As a collector, I long for some rare Pops, even if I am unable to get them. The thrill of the hunt is still appealing.

I believe it is separate. I’m not 100% sure on that but reading the FAQ part on their website it says the Rady Shell was made possible by an agreement between the San Diego Symphony and the Unified Port of San Diego. It also says it is managed and programmed by the San Diego Symphony.

i'm really curious how the format is going to be with the Rady Shell. With the ballroom it is straight forward with tables of various teams with the stage in the middle. Checking in being right outside the ballroom. With the venue being seated outdoors at Rady, i wonder how many people they are targeting on bringing in.

What else made peterpan great at wondercon was it was free, The crazy part was I worked my but off to get the attention of the funko guy giving out 25 winning prizes for making the most noise at the panel. What did I win, 15 dollar mini pops and the better give away was for everyone.

I am sorry to hear it didn't work out so well for the 25 tickets! It seemed like a crazy idea over all, so I assumed they had something like that going and I guess didn't try too hard.

I'm curious about this as well! Like, will there be games before like there has been? Will the ticket prices be the same since it fits more people and perhaps there won't be free food/drinks? So many things to wonder about. :D

I really hope Funko brings back the non-DC/non-Marvel Comics line. I know Saga didn’t really sell well, but they could draw some attention to some really cool books with exclusives of characters that would look really cool as pops. Erika Slaughter, Radiant Black, Cobrasun and Lona Steelrose, Spawn, etc. I’m sure a Last Ronin pop is in the works. Just one pop per book instead of committing to a whole line, at least.
Hey, I’m Alan!

Most Recent Addition: Pop! Moment - Aki Hayakawa #1972
First Pop: Notorious BIG #18
Con/Event Checklist: Anime Expo (1x) // Comic Con Palm Springs (1x) // Comic Con Revolution Ontario (5x) // Fundays 2017, 2024 (Pop Bucklers), 2025 (Piranhas) // Funkon 2021 // Los Angeles Comic Con (3x) // San Diego Comic Con (9x) // WonderCon (1x)

My SDCC wants
* G1 Transformers (still missing the rest of the Seekers, Sunstreaker, Arcee... SO MANY)
* GI Joe (countless Joes/Cobra they could do)
* Last Ronin (I feel this one could be a possibility)
* Thundercats (Jaga, Wiley Kit/Wiley Kat 2-pack)

You can tell what I'm into. haha

I couldn't agree me. Funko always makes it fun. I haven't gone in a few years but here's hoping I can get tickets this year.

fingers crossed!!

Bring ear plugs, wondercon was pretty loud.

Seconded, because I've been to Fundays three times now and it is ALWAYS pretty loud! My friend had to leave really early last year because it was just so much to take in.

Still super fun! Just crazy loud, lots of flashing lights, *constant* screaming haha XD

If there will be more in attendances, it could mean a bigger star to appear. Either way Fundays will be a blast for those that attend.

You will have an excellent time , just dont rely on winning tickets to the funko booth through the lottery. You will probably have more luck waiting in a stand by line, Actually you are probably more guaranteed to get into fundays this year over everything else. This year fundays is going to be by the water outside where they have the concerts , its huge, which probably means with this many people attending it instead of a ballroom means good luck on protos.

Is the shell under control of SDCC during the con or is it separate?

I believe it is separate. I’m not 100% sure on that but reading the FAQ part on their website it says the Rady Shell was made possible by an agreement between the San Diego Symphony and the Unified Port of San Diego. It also says it is managed and programmed by the San Diego Symphony.

Is that where John Williams did the free concert for people who attended the Force Awakens Hall H panel?

Rady Shell is definitely a much larger venue but also outside and surrounded by people waiting in line for Hall H Saturday wristbands, which is one of the most sought after wristbands at SDCC.

What happened to 3 nights of Fundays at the same venue? I thought I had heard that’s what they were planning.
