Proto vs Artist Proof, which do you prefer?

I like both for different reasons. I think APs are a really cool concept that celebrate the artistic aspect of the designs. I’d like to find a few for my collection. I agree that these are special pieces as are protos, and a unique add to any collection.

do you find t hat things usually change between artist proof and final product? i know sometimes that can happen with protos. I think an artist proof would be more cool, although I've never seen one!

I like both I was lucky to get a random AP chase when they first came out - I wish they made multi colored soda protos

I’d love to receive a proto or AP! But between the two, I’d prefer a proto due to the appearance of the figure, itself.

I've owned both protos and Aps and I have found protos capture my interest more. They are both super cool but there is just something about a prototype and how simple it is before moving along in the phases like Artist proofs that I find intriguing to look at. Either way they are both really neat to own.

Honestly prototypes, AP’s are almost nothing different from a regular soda you get at a store it just say’s “AP” on it, but prototypes are unique, you can tell if it is one since some are completely white or others just painted 1 color and I like more unique things then simple things

I've gotten an AP soda before and have never gotten a Proto yet so I'd like to have a Proto.

How does one acquire an AP soda?

I prefer artist proof over a proto - I'm fairly certain that the APs are considered to be the "best versions" of the product before going to mass production. These are my only APs but Snow Miser is my favorite and being signed by Becker makes it all the more awesome.

Hi all,

I recently picked up my very first AP or artist proof Rocksteady and was thrilled to have my very first AP. Then it really started to dawn on me that they hold similar rarity as protos, but are just more closer to production then Protos. Please note that in no way am I trying to insinuate that one is better than the other, obviously it depends on who prefers what and what you collect, so to each there own. So please no bashing here as Id like to make this as a topic to discuss and share, which do you prefer to have in your collection a Proto or an Artist Proof?



Personally only having an Artist Proof piece and no proto, this is special to me and the one I prefer. Maybe that will change, but I hope one day to get this piece signed by the CoF Mike Becker himself, as I intend to keep this piece.

Personally if I had to choose between being gifted my choice between the two I'd have to choose the proto...AP is cool if you like to see the little differences between the released product and a version of what could have been. I just love the look of traditional prototypes myself, just feels nice to my eyes

I prefer Protos as well. You can’t tell the difference between an AP and a regular release.
