thats what is the fun is the uncertainty until you rip one. might get a grail or just an epic. at least can sell the trading cards and use the money to buy a redeemable card.

Ended up spending 200 bucks on some prem and stand packs and ended up getting nothing.. Decided to just pay the $20 for the legendary to make me feel better..

There are two sides to it. It’s fun to rip packs and the feeling of being able to pull something massive is great. It’s also way more efficient and probably less intense to just buy it outright.

It’ll always be a tug of war between “saving” by pulling a redeemable out of 1 or 2 packs or buying the redeemable itself.

With having some WAX saved up, it's been much easier to just buy off the secondary market for the right price whether it's the redeemable NFTs before the snapshot or the tokens after the snapshot... or even the individual NFTs (especially the epics) that go toward the royalty set before the snapshot.

It comes down if you want the thrill of opening or not. Much like gambling, it's an adrenaline rush to open packs. The only time you really get ahead by opening if you are lucky and pull a grail with the first 4 to 5 premiums you open otherwise usually you are losing money. I've been fortunate with my luck lately but there has been many times I've lost.

I realized that pulling the redemptions makes me feel like it was meant to be, while buying makes me feel like I’m forcing it. I know it’s really just luck of the draw, but I am curious how others feel about the different options?

I personally wouldn’t buy one from the after market unless you want just one certain nft from the series especially one that will only be a little more then a premium pack within a week or so.

If I really want one of the pops, i might just wait to buy it...
But if there are multiple, or I just like the theme, I'd most likely trying pulling.

It's so fun to take the chance :D

I'm not one who is addicted to pack ripping... I set a limit and if I don't pull what I'm looking for within that limit, then I usually do not throw more money at pack ripping as it makes more sense to just acquire what I want when prices level off.

My rule of thumb comes down to whether I want the Royalty or not. If I want the royalty, then I get packs. Take some chances and pull some Legendaries or maybe even a Grail. If I go for a royalty, I usually like the actually NFTs too - so it's not just about snagging the redeemables for me.

If I only want a certain redeemable - then I just get that NFT directly using Wax.

Interesting... so you collect the NFTs themselves by buying packs and paying $2 each for commons and uncommons and rares when they sell for much cheaper (like under 5 cents) on the markets? Whenever I want the Royalty only, I'd rather buy the cards for way less. If I would display any of the legendaries or grails in any set, I still set a limit and if I don't get what I want then I buy them outright later. I'll take any $2 Epics I can get, but I don't like paying that much for commons and uncommons. Everyone has their own strategy :)

I like gambling, I hate losing. It sure feels awesome when hit a grail. Sometimes you end up spending more than just buying it out right. Especially if you buy packs at resale value.

You can look at it as paying X amount per card in packs all day if you'd like. That makes commons and rares and such much more expensive than individual purchases. But the flip side of that is that it makes legendaries and grails MUCH cheaper than buying them individually. This is why people buy blind packs for any collectible and there are such things as rarities. Blind Packs are gambling. Always have been, always will be.

When I collected Pokémon cards back around 2013-2016 I would buy packs until I was only missing a few of the rates or secret rates then I’d bcbm the last few since by then it didn’t make sense to keep buying packs.

But back then sets were manageable to complete.

I feel like with any type of blind pack/box...it's always cheaper to just buy what you want but the chase is so thrilling XD then the wallet cries and the regrets hit

Most of the time it is cheaper to buy. Gamble like anything else, but you're more likely to get what you want spending more

I’m still waiting to hit double grails. But I did open a premium pack for Universal Monsters that had a grail and two legendaries.

I always try to pull what I can first before resorting to buying, but there's no science to this. You either get lucky or you don't lol but I at least want to take the shot of pulling something great

I do like opening some packs! But it probably is better statistically to just buy the ones you want directly. Same goes for all kinds of packs really. It's the thrill and power of getting a grail or say an autograph in a sports card pack that makes it so fun. I assign some value to the actual fun of opening the pack / the hunt. Otherwise, collecting is just about spending money on Ebay nowadays.

I weigh the cost of packs against whether I would display the legendary or grail item or not... Often if the Legendaries or Grails are not something I would not be interested in, then I only go after the royalty by purchasing the cards directly. If the Royalty isn't on my list, then I avoid the drop altogether. Limited space forces you to make better choices :)
