Re: Rumors of a Soda wind-down
Honestly, I'm glad the Sodas are slowing down... The unlimited count Sodas really devalued this line.

They really did a little tooo much with the sodas. It was at every con too. Liked the 3L but they didn’t do many of those.

The 3L they rarely did anything they could've done so much more not sure why they didn't

Fr, the Sodas could've been a nice addition to the Pops but not an entire line of their own. Really enjoyed a couple of the limited 3L versions tho

If I had to guess, I think it had to do something with the production costs of making the 3L sized bottles. Since they were custom each time, probably made up most of the cost of each 3L soda. But just speculating

That's why they charge $40 for them haha make them more limited and they'll almost always sell out. I'd take a shot on most 3L Sodas if the line was super limited (3K-5K)

Agreed, I think thats what Thrilljoy is trying to accomplish now with their product. High quality packaging and much lower production counts. We'll see if it captures that higher-end market!

Sodas were cool at first, I think they were over saturated. Should have been way more limited I think. And not every character needed to be a soda.

You're saying you don't want Carapax, the super-popular well-known character from the Blue Beetle movie that everyone saw, as a Soda???

I ceased collecting sodas due to limited storage space and a general lack of appeal in most of the designs

As per usual, the designs were getting better and better, but yeah, the general reason to get these were the chase chances in general at retail. It's too bad. I would love a Teen Titans bag

I feel like they might keep doing the coolers - it's an easier way to sell a bunch of Sodas instead of trying to sell 6 different characters separately

Yah I agree, doing the sodas as 6-packs only with limited franchises would keep the fandom for the products alive and keep them interesting and fresh.

Oh yea. That stopped a lot of soda collectors. Specially when you cound get the chase at retail on the resell market. And not to mention the massive amount of opened cans at the stores.
The SODA line was great while it lasted, if that's true. Maybe more LE counts would've helped. But we'll see what 2025 brings.

Nope, not your imagination. This was from Funko’s Press and Investors Event in September 2022. And I think the first SODAs were released sometime around ECCC 2020.
Amazing, thanks for sharing! I've never seen this picture before. I kinda like the itty bitty line

They are cute and would be easier to store, but I just went to if they fall and get stepped on - they would hurt like a Lego

The Soda category was removed? Im curious if that is because there isnt enough of them to justify a whole dedicated page/link or if theyre truly dying off. At one point recently I heard talks of a potential comeback which wouldve been cool

Honestly, I'm good with Sodas fading away. Wasn't my favorite look anyways and the unlimited Sodas really tanked the value of these (even with chases).

I’ll agree with you on the unlimited sodas tanking the value. That made no sense. Just keep it the way it was.

Same! And if so, I’d love for them to revisit prior franchises and release additional characters from them versus exploring brand new ones. For example, they only released 1 of the Animaniacs, 1 from WWE, and are only missing 1 of the main crew members from Cowboy Bebop.

Yep, it was removed! I recall there being a huge sale on their site and their soda selection just dwindled down with no new releases. And yes, it appeared there was no longer a need to justify a dedicated page at that point. I feel that sodas will now be limited to special events and it’s Funko characters (Freddy, Proto, Franny).

Indeed saddening. The other day, I was browsing the Funko site and saw that the Soda category was removed - although the remaining in-stock Sodas still can be found under the Funko Gear category.
I can see that happening as well. Con exclusive only

If they do come back, it won’t be the same as before.
I agree. I predict they’ll be limited to special events and it’s Funko characters like Freddy and Proto.

Making them a bit more scare would be cool.
I really liked when the initial ones had a limited number on release.
it got really confusing and messy when overseas numbers came into play and then they just removed the limited count.
Really do hope we see some cool limited ones at conventions. Just hopefully they don't fall under the same price point if only 1k are made.
