Bobblehead & Vinyl Figure DC Pop
I noticed the DC line had some vinyls as bobblehead and figures. Seems like the newer ones are vinyl figures instead of bobbleheads. Why did they do this? Are the bobbleheads harder to find now?

Re: Bobblehead & Vinyl Figure DC Pop
this is my understanding, and someone can correct me if i'm wrong...
target signed up to sell the pops, but they only wanted the bobbleheads. star wars and marvel were the only bobbleheads, so that limited which pops would be sold. target (or funko) also wanted the DC characters on shelves, so a sub-series of DC was made as bobbleheads, just for target stores.
the sub-series did not include every character. the back of their boxes identifies 7 which were made as bobbleheads: batman, robin, batgirl, penguin, joker, superman, green lantern.
and chases did not stop for target stores. so these 7 characters are available as figure, chase figure, bobblehead, chase bobblehead.
it has nothing to do with newer versus older. they were sold at the same time, just a different version for target stores. and since all targets have stopped carrying the DC line of pops, the bobbleheads aren't on shelves anymore. that makes them seem harder to find, but i'm not sure that's the case. even though they were sold for less time than the figures, the sheer number of target stores could mean the production numbers of the DC bobbleheads are pretty high. i also suspect that target sold to more casual buyers, meaning there's not a flood of them on ebay sold by flippers.
still, i'm currently trying to get all of these (the standard versions) in my pop collection. i have both for superman, green lantern and joker. PLEASE let me know if you have one of the others!
there's also the toy story characters -- woody, buzz, jessie, lotso -- that are both figure and bobblehead, due to licensing issues.

Re: Bobblehead & Vinyl Figure DC Pop
Thanks, I was thinking about making some changes to reflect whether the figures were a bobblehead or a figure in the spreadsheet, so it sounds like just certain lines and with DC just the ones from Target.

Re: Bobblehead & Vinyl Figure DC Pop
yep... all star wars characters and marvel characters are bobbleheads because hasbro has the license for vinyl figures (mighty muggs) with these properties. everything else is available as a figure. the only 11 that double up are the 7 target DC ones and the 4 toy story characters. funko can only sell the figure versions at disney stores during the first six months of exclusivity. once the toy story characters go to other retailers, they become bobbleheads packaged with stands (like star wars). expect the same thing to happen when zurg and alien expand to other retailers later this summer.
