In or Out?

Postby RiotCityHoods » Sun Aug 10, 2003 3:47 pm

Prude brings up a good point...Which I think about WAY TOO OFTEN.

I struggle with the "IN/OUT" issue...I'm OUT...Most of 'em anyway...But I love the "clean line look" of Otto's collection. I've got so many out that it would take hours to put them back "IN". So what I'm gonna do is take new photos - since I built some 20" shelves yesterday too and hopefull you're all gonna tell me..."IN or OUT"...based on how my collection looks not based on "minty-mint value". Okay? Wanna help a brother out? I'll post pictures later!

I just like to let them breath. I keep all my boxes with them, all in good shape. I may adjust this philosophy once my baby is born and begins to move around the house however.

Look forward to seeing the collection!

I leave mine in the box for the most part except a few of my favorites and the ones my girlfriend got ahold of , she likes them out and displays them in a different room, I just like the box art and the fact that they are protected from dust and other peoples gruby hands

Prude...We have a baby coming too! Our first...Due in late October. You?

And Wizeguy...It's sorta scarey isn't it? I've seen you post a few things and say exactly what I was gonna say. You are my son. What would I have been when you were born? 11? How old are you again little fella?

Taking photos in a few minutes. Paul

And Riot - yep, this is our first baby, and we are just waiting to go to the hospital, any day now I guess. Pins and needles!!

Box Art

Postby Seymore Wobblers » Mon Aug 11, 2003 8:05 am

Riot, I was 40 and my wife 28 when we had our son last year. I hope you and Monkey both let us know when the buns are ready to come out of the oven at your houses so we can raise lots of hoooopla here in Funkoville!!

The box issue.... The box art is so well done! Box art is usually just for marketing purposes but in this case it's also part of the whole trip back, so to speak. One of my favorite boxes so far is the recent Snidely. I like the way they gave it kind of an old silent film b/w style, similar to the coming soon announcement that they had on the Funko website.

I keep them all out of the box but with the box behind the Wobbler with the side facing out. The Wobbler stands a little to the side in front of the side window. (I should post a pic to explain) The box adds a background and helps to tell the story with its awesome graphics.

Riot, you have the ultimate collection. First time I've seen it. It would be easy to spend well over an hour in that room just looking. It's like a museum!! :thud:
Cain't you see I'm busy? Now GEEEEIT!!!!

I guess I'm in the minority here... I keep my Wobblers in their box, mostly to keep them clean and safe... I have a four year old!

Nice room there, RCH, very impressive collection!

About 90% in box. Easier to keep dusted and easier to display...in my case that is. The ones on my desk do seem to rotate though...When someone mentions something about a particular Wobbler (variation, question, or just the mention) I tend to take it down and leave it out until another gets mentioned....

Wizeguy,

The plastic is gone! Bluemolasses posted a picture once...He showed how he displayed the plastic that a Wobbler came in...He had an acrylic case with a crumpled piece of plastic inside...It was probably the funniest picture ever regarding this thing we do! :roflmao:

In or Out...I could go either way if I had it to do all over again...Riotcity's and Wizeguys displays are awesome and has made me consider taking them out...then again...why change what's already been done?

I thought this thread was gonna be about hamburgers. We all know I like to keep mines minty mint in their boxes. If I had a bigger place, I wouldn't mind displaying some out of the box tho.

I prefer them to be displayed in the box but mainly because I don't have the room to properly display them out of the box let alone come up with a space to store the empty boxes.

No room to display currently, but I must say that they look awesome displayed out of the box. The colors really shine and you can see the whole wobbler.

Does anyone have them displayed out of the box in a display case? (You know to fight the dust thing.)

the dust thing is tough...i'm considering covering each until with plexi now...dust and the kid coming and all...but until them i'll continue with the feather duster...it aint perfect but it's all i got. the one thing about displaying boxes...they fade faster then plastic!

I have some out of the box, but most of them are still in the box...for two main reasons. One, the artwork on the boxes is awesome, and two, I don't have space to store all of the loose boxes.

Mine live out of their boxes. Its too hard for them to talk or breathe through the plastic window on the boxes. Same goes for the plastic bags.

Awesome display. Wow...what a collection!

I am a newbie to the world of wobblers, and have been wondering the same thing. Do I keep em in the boxes...or take em out?! I just can't stand to see them trapped in the boxes, so I have let them all (all 7 so far) out! I can't wait until I get to build some shelves for them!

I see there are acrylic cases for sale, are those worth getting?

I keep all of mine in the box. I have always been a little torn on this issue. They look great all lined up on shelves in the box and out. I chose to keep them in the box mostly for the space and dust issue.

The acrylic cases that Ron at Nodder World sells are awesome. It would get a little expensive to buy them for all the wobblers, but I buy them for all the more rare wobblers.

Boxes

Postby pppmntpati » Mon Aug 11, 2003 8:41 pm

I'm in the box. I would love to switch once in a while and display outside the box but there is no way I'd have room to store the empty boxes. The artwork on the boxes is great, and really sets Funko apart from the others.

IN the box, and then IN acrylic cases. I want to protect my babies, plus no room for all the boxes, plus the graphics on the boxes are awesome. 8)

I respect the IN concept believe me...I like it...I'm where I am though. I will say - I just counted my wobblers...No duplicates - 250 FUNKO pieces! I absolutely LOVE my collection. I LOVE IT.
