Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
I have been collecting pops for a few weeks now so I was surprised to learn the wacky wobblers only sell for $10-18ish even for comic con exclusives (That you can still readily find available from years ago). Unlike pops, which will command a $100+ price tag. So what is the major difference between the pop and wacky wobbler lines? Just trying to better understand before I purchase one. A
Also, I see very few auctions on ebay, everything is mostly just buy it now at a fixed retail price. Which kind of tells me there is little to no demand for them.

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
Wobblers used to be huge. Look around at photos of the collections of some of the more senior members here - they've got some awesome pieces.
The simplest way to explain it is they eventually got replaced in popularity by the "next big thing" which is currently Pop. Someday down the line Pop will also get replaced by a new "next big thing" and the circle of life will continue.

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
The wobblers are cool. There are hundreds of characters to choose from, many of which aren't in pop form.
The interest has died down a lot but there are many that do collect them, although, you're still going to have some that are very hard to come by.

I started collecting because of the Pop line but now I would say Wobblers are becoming my favorite along with Spastiks!

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
The world is much different than it was 13 years ago. Funko used to release 4-8 Wobblers each month, and a handful of exclusives throughout the year that weren't always the easiest to obtain. Online stores selling Wobblers consisted to 2-4 sites, and people using those sites were also using dial-up internet connections for the first several years. Kind of a different climate these days...

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
Most new collectors come to Funko through Pop therefore they don't know/want the older product lines like Wobblers or Spastiks.
Kind of a shame, they're missing out. Wait until Dorbz collectors take over and ask 'What's a Pop?'

I was in a B&N today. It may be an exaggeration, but there seemed to be more Pop! than books. They were all over the place. Then, also, a StarWars display with Pop! and the new Wobblers!!!!
Then I walked into a Hot Topic - again - Pop!s all over, Pop! tees, keychains.......
Then in to Spencers.......
I still love Wacky Wobblers!!!

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
So here's the reason I ask without putting this info on blast (hopefully). I always wanted the mars attacks! martian pop but they are going for $100+ even for the regular, non-metallic and non-glow in the dark versions. I came across a online retailer selling BOTH a metallic version AND glow in the dark version of the mars attacks martian wacky wobbler. It looks like those were a comic con exclusive from several years ago, with a pretty limited number produced. And even with the limited production number and the several years past they still somehow had them in stock, and at under $20 a piece. That blew my mind a little bit considering the smaller, less detailed pop version would be selling for $200 each probably. I'm still undecided if I want to get one but when you look at the numbers it's hard to say no. Then again, collectibles are only worth anything because we think they are.

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
Basically your last statement summed it up. Pops became really hot, where wobblers have fallen off for most. It makes it really nice for wobbler collectors as the prices of new things never got really high. Another reason I prefer wobblers. Also like you said the detail on wobblers is way better. It's all personal opinion though

You should buy it because you love it, not for any perceived value in the future. If you like the wobblers AND they are inexpensive = bonus!

Yeppers, collect what you love I actually quite enjoy the wobbler-hunt, it's a nice change of pace from the usual pop-hunt. That being said, I enjoy pretty much ALL Funko-hunting

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
To be honest, even though I started out collecting pops, my interest in them is becoming less and less and my intrigue in wobblers continues to grow. Wobblers have so much more detail, plus I've always been a fan of the spring and I like the more relaxed feel there is with collecting them. Too much frenzy with pops right now. It's just sad that Funko seems to be keeping the wobbler production to a limited nowadays.

I made a huge order from Gemini because I am starting to see certain Wobblers becoming harder to find and I wanted to get them on clearance before the prices go up. Most of them were very cheap but a few were more expensive and from the treasures section.

I've got 2000 of them and love each and every one. I remember when the announcement came at Fundays about the POP's - all the old timers, including myself were freakin' - we are very loyal to our wobblers - like someone else said - something new came to replace them. I for one said I'd never collect pops and now have over 300 - so live and learn. What I will say is the detail on the wobblers can not be replaced with the pops - the work done for the wobblers was outstanding - so many great characters too - everyone should own a wobbler!

Re: Is there no collector interest in the wacky wobblers?
I recently bought a Red Skull Wobbler for around 10 dollars as a place holder until I can afford a Pop Red Skull which is currently over 150$ and I'm pretty new to Pop Collecting. I think all Funko products are amazing in detail and these Wobblers are top of the line products no matter how old they are.

Glad I inspired you. I asked Gemini twice through customer service how much remaining stock they had of the glow/metallic version and was flat out ignored both times. I wonder how long it can really last at those prices, especially if the pieces are limited to less than 500 each, the glow version even more-so. If anyone has both, it would be cool to see them next to eachother. Maybe I will just get one.

It's a shame that Funko doesn't make very many wobblers anymore; I received my first Wobbler in the mail the other day, Randall Boggs from Monsters University, and I was stoked by the quality of the material and the detail of the scales. It's definitely superior to the Randall Boggs Pop, which I never got because I don't like the design. I'm happy they did decide to make Monsters University Wobblers, since I collect Pixar and the Monsters, Inc movies are my favorite.
It would've been cool if they had made a Bing Bong wacky Wobbler hugging the trophies like he does in the movie during the "Everyone's a winner!" scene. I did see a pink elephant Wobbler that resembled him in a picture somewhere; I'm assuming it's an older Wobbler of some sort. But I do like Bing Bong's Pop with its cute tail.

Even though this thread is from back in October, it goes to say...there IS an interest in Wobblers from some "new" collectors. Take myself and Josh for example...primarily POP collectors, but now getting a variety of different Wobblers. I told myself I wouldn't collect them after I got the Mortal Kombat set...now that collection is growing pretty quick.

It's happened to quite a few of us. I thing the longer you stick around, the more you start to appreciate other lines. When I started, all I collected was Pop's. Then, after about a year, all I was collecting was Wobbler's. I've gotten most of the ones I want, so I just keep an eye out for new Wobblers that I like and the occasional Pop or two (or three, or four...).

The interest in Wacky Wobblers is alive, but it's bordering on life support..... Only 37 Funatics have expressed interest in new WWs.
