Marvel POP! Updates Thread 2018 (Updated July 20th)

I'm genuinely surprised people didn't think exactly this was going to happen
he's very popular and the movie has already got a lot of hype so obviously Funko wasn't going to pass up on getting a piece of the financial action

people didn't think it was going to happen because Marvel put a ban on the last 2 Fox properties when they were about to get movies. 2 franchises with far richer and more storied characters than this guy. the fact that I don't have a complete Fantastic 4, original X-men, Apocalypse or Super-Skrull yet I can now have my pick of 2 dozen Deadpool is everything that is wrong with collectibles.

He has a little bit of a point when you think about it. They care more about $$$ then quality. While I certainly don't hate Deadpool it does peeve me a bit that he gets 20 different variants when there's a wide array of characters that don't have a pop at all. I'm hoping not to get attacked for this but I can see where Yac (Can I call you Yac?) is coming from. I also don't like seeing guys get ganged up on for voicing their opinions. Last I checked, that IS the purpose of a forum.

you can call me anything you want Mr. Duck, the fact that your Pop exists does install me with some hope. and I know I complain too much, but I just get so annoyed that somebody like Green Goblin who is one of the most iconic villains in all of Comics is only now getting a figure and it's stuck as a drug store exclusive, as thrilled as i am to finally get him that's the stuff that bugs me most.

but in all seriousness you guys don't find it ridiculous that we're getting 7 more Deadpool hot on the heels of him getting his own MCC box?

My biggest complaint about all the new variants is how similar they still are. They have the entire Deadpool Corps to play around with and all they did was give him hats... Don't get me wrong, I still like em, but as someone else has already said here, it feels like wasted potential. All these new variants and all of them are the same mold with minor differences. I'm hoping that the MCC box will have something from the Deadpool Corps in it, but we'll see.

Truth is, I love Deadpool, so seeing more variants of him doesn't bother me. That said, I know that there are other Marvel characters that need attention and while I really don't think the array of Deadpool POPs has anything to do with the lack of certain characters, I suppose I can see how a bunch of Deadpools and 0 of other beloved Marvel characters could cause a bit of Deadpool resentment.

Is Venom still that difficult to find? My Walgreens has 6 just sitting on the shelf. I thought both Punishers were the elusive ones?

Couple months ago I called about 30 Walgreens in Arizona and probably 15 of them had Punishers only, and only 1 had Venom.

Last couple times I'd been in three seperate Walgreens and they were completely wiped as far as exclusives were concerned. Only Frozen POPs were left... It was horrible. If I had time to really hunt for him, I could probably find one, just haven't really had a chance. And if I wanted to order him online, I'd be stuck paying $20+ on ebay. Last time I check there was someone that wanted $45 for him, . Walgreens exclusives are just a general hassle.

I know, it's the same punsher painted in a different way, but this time....it is really well painted

Actually we have #110 and #118 still unknown
I think 110 will be Spider-Gwen and 118 will be MCC next Deadpool.

I agree with Yak too. And Deadpool is my favorite comic character after yeaaars of being a huge comic fan.

This is ridiculous. Some of them are cute but little things. An Apron on Chefpool. A pirate coat on Piratepool. Giving him nothing but boxers for Bathpool.

Some little minor things and I would have chased after these.

Piratepool is easily gonna be my top second favorite Pop just because I love pirates and Deadpool and that storyline.

That, and to each their own but I don't see the desire for Deadpool Corps. That was a short lived experiement. Maybe Headpool and Lady Deadpool, but that would be it.

Not really strange, it's just a variant of the red/black #112. Not a new mold.

That's not always the case but Funko seems to try to keep the number the same if it's just a simple paint variant.

There is no "ban" on X-Men. Fantastic Four seems obvious (and at this point, the brand is poisonous anyway) but Funko has done a number of comics-based X-Men Pops and they just recently did Dorbz too. There is no ban on the X-Men property.

Er, what? How is that everything that is wrong with collectibles? Funko is a business. Deadpool figures sell. They make them money which allows them to do other characters like Taskmaster.

A wave of Deadpool Pops in line with a new Deadpool is in absolutely no way taking the place of any of the characters you just mentioned.

I would assume Marvel pushes them to not make merchandise based on the movies, yeah.

Which... doesn't bother me too much. I'd much rather have them be based on the comics considering the movies still use the boring leather jacket costume crap.

And I don't think anyone wants anything based on the FF movies. But yeah, comic-related stuff would be nice. Hopefully it ends up back at Marvel soon.

I updated the front to the best of my knowledge. A few things though.

Are all the Daredevil POPS released or is it just the red suit Daredevil that is released?

Other than Inverse Deadpool and Weapon-X Deadpool are there any other Deadpool keychains that are new? We already know about the black suit.

More of a FYI, but for the pens. There is also a Hulk and Spider-Man pen. I have yet to see either of them, but apparently they exist and have been out.
