The more you look at it, the more the paint job grows on you. (like anything Funko)

Im sad I missed out on all the Mickey Hikari. Checked Ebay and they are too much. Hopefully I can find them in a Hot Topic or restocked online sometime.

Just got mine. I'd like it better without the antiquing, but I still think it looks great. Maybe the low expectations helped.
I wonder if there are problems with large white areas, if the inevitable paint imperfections make it too hard to get solid white right.

I can not imagine that being an issue. Original Mickey, while more of an off-white, still maintains a solid color. Same for the Stay-Puff and Wampa Hikari. This feels way more like an intended vintage idea that the factory just could not pull off correctly.

Yeah, you're right. Regular Stay Puft looks great. It's weird to me no one stopped this before 500 were made, but I really have no idea how the whole process works and am probably naive. Still, I'm a fan of the finished product, though I imagine there are some particularly unfortunate ones going around.

Yeah sorry poppet I'm not feeling that massive tear on your Mickey either. Such an awkward paint application

I have had some friends/contacts in the industry over the years. Usually for mass production runs there are factory samples airmailed for approval as well as a company rep onsite for a production quality check. Keep in mind this is for large scale mass production runs in the thousands to 10's of thousands+. For the ultra-limited 200, 250, 500, etc. piece runs I do wonder how that works. Not really cost effective to send someone over to do a production check. Funko could have gotten a hand painted factory sample that nailed it but when it went to actual production the factory just couldn't handle it on a multiple piece basis.
I have known smaller toy companies that approved a factory sample only to have the production piece be painted differently. Once it is done and shipped from the factory, that is it. We get what we get at that point.

I really wish it was just a straight B&W paint job like POPs.

Re: Black & White Mickey
Here is a good comparison photo, but I'm extremely pleased with how my b&w Mickey turned out. It wasn't perfect with no black specks at all, but I still love it and thank the Funko gods it is as near-perfect as it is!!

I drove 12 hours, each way to the nearest Box Lunch store and bought it!! Looked too good and too limited to risk missing out on it!! The Tonal Mickey is metallic looking and is magnificent in person!
Thanks Stacey!! Has yours made it to you yet??

Josh, yours look pretty awesome man! I might try for one next time I have 3 Box Lunch stores, each about an hour and half away but would be worth it.

Take them out of the box. They look so much better that way.
Check retroprotection.com, they might have some that fit.

A customer of mine emailed me telling me he'd bought one from another retailer and that this was an issue, but I figured it was a fluke. I guess not. I'm going to have some people pretty upset at me...no words...
