Super deluxe, super dead?
Anyone else shocked and disappointed at no super deluxe news from toy fair? Anyone on here who knows me knows I'm a huge advocate for the line... and I had been hearing hush hush rumors that funko was indeed planning star wars, specifically Darth Vader for the line, yet no such news landed. For a line with only 3, (technically 4) figures, seems odd to not assure people it's still going to be a thing. fingers crossed it was just a fluke

I love them and the Amazon adjusted price point was great. Hopefully it's not dead

Brian did state that there was more to come and that they didn't have everything at Toy Fair, so hopefully more will follow! The Deadpool has been the best yet for sure!

The lower price point also means they probably didn't sell too well. I am extremely worried too because I love the figures.

He didn't state Super Deluxe directly, just that everything wasn't at Toy Fair....let me see if I can find the quote...

I took that as there are releases from later this year that aren't revealed yet...but that's just my assumption.

ahh gotcha. still, news in the right direction. I also feel like at one point they hinted at more in the line during a Q&A on twitter, but I'm not sure and will never find that. But I got scared with no news this past week!

Re: Super deluxe, super dead?
Right now, seems as though more Marvel characters are possible but I don't know about the Star Wars licenses to recreate a character in this form. You have to remember that this is part of the Vinyl Sugar sub-brand under the Funko umbrella. There are no Vinyl Idolz, Dorbz, etc yet from Star Wars, so they definitely haven't demonstrated they have acquired the license yet either.

I wouldn't be to worried, Funko said just because it's not at Toy Fair doesn't mean it's not coming. Perfect example the no new Hikari being there. It's a little discouraging that nothing is planned for immediate release but I wouldn't say it's dead quite yet.

I hope not. I bought Rocket on sale at GameStop and he is absolutely amazing. Even if they never do anything outside of Marvel I'd still be happily committed to this line.

Right, another example is Vinyl Vixens, Brian announced 4 new ones coming this year but there was only 1 on display at the Toy Fair and shown in the 2016 catalog (SS Harley).

Well I'm the first to admit he deserves some more Funko love. (One Pop was a blessing but come on. A Dorbz would be sweet.) But he's certainly not the only one deserving. What about the other Guardians? Or Thanos?

I'm just starting to get into them!! Is it pretty much a guarantee the mini-wobblers are done? The last ones I know of were the Avengers 4-pack & the BvS 4-pack. Hopefully the original characters are coming back in the mini-Wobbler's!

Ya, the price point was way too high. Luckily, ThinkGeek had a Leap Day sale yesterday and I was able to get the Rocket and Baby Groot for $42. The Pop Price Guide still shows its value as $60. Have any of you taken yours out of the box? They seem to be well displayed inside as is.

Good point. I'm new to this; Would you happen to know how do these collectables lose value when they're taken out of the box vs. why couldn't someone just put it back into the box? Or does it not work that way any more?

Out of box. I don't think you can truly appreciate the detail in box.
I would also ignore PPG. It only deals with 'secondary market' so clearance sales don't impact the price point. Or...you now have 18 bucks of equity in that sucker.

Good point. I don't think I'm ever going to resell them, but would you happen to know how much they depreciate when you take them out?

If they're on clearance...depreciation isn't a concern.

Would be very wise for more people to understand this...personal sales on forums, Craigslist, Kijiji, FB, etc...none are factored into the PPG, nor is condition graded and listed with the sales. The best thing to base estimated cost on IMO, when using the PPG is somewhere between the 90 day highest, and the 30 day average if your an in-box collector; the lows are always damaged boxes and whatnot.

Why thank you good sir, that sounds like really good advice. ThinkGeek is usually good about sending their packages in good condition. And you're right, some low bids I've purchased on Ebay have been on Pops with damaged boxes, fortunately most of the sellers are upfront about it.

Closed Ebay sales is the best way to figure out a price. You'll need to go into the listing details to see condition or other reasons that a particular sale went high or low. PPG uses sold Ebay items as well, but I have found that most users don't look into the detail (which PPG provides) and just go with the price at the top of the page.
PPG said 60 for your super deluxe based on one sale three months ago. Not enough data to be an accurate reflection of it's current value, which, in this case, would be what it's selling for at retail.
Experience is the best source. The more you collect, the better feel you'll have for what things are worth. Getting to know fellow collectors, especially those that have been around for a while, helps as well.

I would love to see Spidey in SD.
Have you ever seen the Subcasts line of Marvel characters from, jeez, about 10 years ago? They only did four, Spiderman, Iron Man, Wolverine and Ghost Rider. They were done in resin, but they are kind of similar in style to Super Deluxe.
