Julian--yes, I was interested in the older generation Guardians of the Galaxy too. They were an unusual, rather enigmatic group...and for me, Star Hawk and his alter ego/other-half (was her name Aleta?) really stood out as provocative, forward-thinking, innovative characters. Of course, he played a crucial role in the Korvac/"Michael" storyline--the finale of which is one of my favorite conclusions of all time. I have not followed the evolution of the group over the years; so this incarnation holds a special place for me. It's good to know others share similar sentiment.

And Joe, you're absolutely correct--as I was buying Pops! that I liked, and Funko kept introducing great stuff. Like many of you I found myself faced with the challenge of how to display and store my collectibles. The true Funko Funatic "addict" that I am, I thought--well, I'll buy the ones I like now (especially if I thought they'd be more expensive later), and I'll worry about storage and display later. Of course, most everyone around us thinks we've gone off the deep end and need professional counseling...maybe a sedative, Ritalin, or some other drug .

I try really hard to keep the Pops! from taking over the whole home (like Stephen Spielberg's "Gremlins"--"Just don't get them wet!"). This keeps my girlfriend happy.

One day I happened to be in the garage, and it hit me--"Wow--look at all this storage space...and those could function as "shelves!?!" I tried fitting a few, and it worked. Cleaning up and converting these spaces has been a challenge--because I work a lot...and we all know that this gets expensive. I didn't show you all the spaces themselves because I didn't want you all to see the sheer mess. Even so, other posts and comments yesterday made me think--people really don't care if your room or space is "perfect" or not. They just love Pops!, Funko, and collecting in general. That's why I do appreciate your various feedback and encouragement because it tells me that you don't care whether or not everything is finished or perfect according to my mind--that it's the willingness to share with the Community that's much more important.

And finally--Joe, as you noticed, the spacing of those "shelves" is perfect for Pops! (and not much else), and the smallest/narrowest ones are ideal for the box-less protos that are lined up. As I continue to acquire more Pops! (yes, it's partially sad, but true--I don't think I can completely control this habit) I will likely move some things into different areas/arrangements to make more room. Hopefully, some of you will actually see these set-ups in person or maybe on a video someday (they look a whole lot better in person than they do in those pics). I'm still completing the climate control for the garage area. That door itself is actually "insulated", and I figure I'll insulate/cover around the edges too. The room actually has four large windows that were placed at the time the house was built, since I anticipated that the space would eventually function as an exercise/work room someday. It seems to be taking forever. So I decided to post instead of waiting months or years for reach some ideal.

Thank you all for being enthusiastic collectors like me. Our collections and emphasis may be different, but we all share the same passion.

And because of your comments, I do plan to post more pics as progress for the different areas comes along, and maybe some individual Pop!/proto pics as well. Thank you to all of you for your various posts, pics, and your encouragement too .

Oh guys/gals--a couple other things I forgot to mention:

#1 Of course, the garage door opening mechanism is disengaged to prevent any inadvertent attempt to open the door.

#2 The shelves are obviously metal. In the bottom of each Pop! box on the garage door shelf is a strong and pretty good-sized (2 3/4") magnet (sometimes called "Magnet with Hanger"--these typically come in black or white; I think the black ones tend to be less apparent, but they both work well). If one carefully opens the bottom of the box the inserts by far and large accommodate the magnets pretty easily. Afterwards, the box is put in a Pop protector. This is important for several reasons a) it keeps dust off; b) it helps to protect the surface from damage; 3) it reinforces the base--important more so because these are pretty strong magnets; more than strong enough to secure a Pop! I have actually done experiments to see if the boxes stay in place when the garage is elevated--AND THEY DO!

The only problem had to do with risk at places where the horizontal section/division of the door bent forward during lifting and pushed the Pop! forward just enough to weaken the amount of magnet left holding it on the ledge. Basically that part of the door would tilt or slide an occasional Pop! forward just enough.

My solution? One can simply not put Pops! on that section, or just not allow the door to go up. While it is impressive to show people that this really does work, still it makes one nervous to so tease and defy fate and gravity. So the door stays down. In any case, you can't walk by and casually knock a Pop! off the shelf; it just won't happen. In fact, it takes a bit of force to remove a Pop! It is much better to slide the Pop! forward to relocate or remove. The protector keeps the bottom from being worn or harmed.

Just a little more insight if any of you were wondering.

I've been looking at everyone's collections on here for many months now, but never posted photos of my own, but I decided it's finally time to post a couple pics.





My displays aren't as exciting as most, but I hope to change that someday. I have almost as many SW Pops as I do Marvel, but most are behind the Marvel section, which is also within my Star Wars collection, which is much larger, which is a big reason why I don't have enough room to have everything from Funko showing, unfortunately. My larger Funko items (Rey with Speeder, Vanellope Dorbz Ride, King Kong, MCC Civil War 2-pack) are in a different area not pictured.

I was very slow to become a regular collector of Pops. The first one I got was Captain America from the first Avengers movie, which I got for free from redeeming points I saved up on my Disney Movie Rewards account, back in 2012, I believe. Over the next few years I only bought a small number of Pops, and all from Amazon, not realizing they were readily available in stores like HT and GS. I saw some for The Hobbit at B&N, but despite being a huge fan of that franchise and being super excited for the movies, I didn't buy the Pops. I've regretted it ever since. From Amazon during my pre-Funko obsession days I bought a couple of Daenerys Targaryen, Coulson, Melinda May, and Avengers: AOU Black Widow. The Daenerys I passed on was the wedding dress one, which was still retail priced, which of course ended up becoming the vaulted one of the three. I ended up buying that one from eBay just this year for $18 shipped. Lowest price I've seen in a long time, so I had to jump on it. Then in the fall of 2015 things started to get rolling a little bit, when I started to buy Pops for The Force Awakens. However, the moment I finally got hooked was when I walked into my local HT in late February of 2016 and saw the giant wall of Pops on the back wall. I was shocked to see that many. I ended up buying just one at the time, the HT exclusive Peggy Carter, but that is the moment I got hooked and I've been Pop hunting on a regular bases ever since.

I'm an in-box collector, but the reason why I have an OOB Cap and Wacky Wobblers is because they were thrift/antique store finds. The GG WW I found at a thrift store (possibly a rummage sale, honestly don't remember, but pretty sure it was a thrift store) years ago, and it wasn't until last year that I finally realized it was a Funko item. Because of that I'm not sure if Avengers Cap or GG is my first Funko item. The OOB Cap is AoU Cap, which I found at a Goodwill outside of my usual thrifting area that I had never been to before last fall, which was also a brand new location. It was only 99¢. I found the Cheshire Cat at a local antique store in early March of this year for $6.

The pics aren't great, but I hope the story makes up for them.

I'm also a big James Bond fan, which you can probably see. I hope we get Pops for that franchise someday.

I think it's interesting to find out about the evolution of people's collections and stories. Generally, it seems most of us are going about our way and then after some transformative event that stimulates interest, nostalgia, or some other connection, we get hooked--which of course is Funko's stated mission. The hobby and a lot of prices have gotten so crazy that one has to start small and progressively build up a collection; without unlimited resources there is no other way. Then there's the issue of space, since there are a number of good Pops! out there that are reasonably affordable enough that our collections are at risk of getting out of control. To me, this takes us to the border between obsession and creativity--where we each have to find a way to make our personal collections work--and save our marriages and relationships in the meantime . I think that's why it's nice for us to post and share pics--so we can get ideas and see how other funatics have dealt with issues and problems. Even with small collections I get ideas.

Hawk, I like those little wall hooks for the packaged figurines. I know I must have seen them before, but must not have paid much attention and casually looked over them. It's cool how you used them for parts of your collection. Maybe others on the board have made use of them before too, and I just hadn't seen or noticed them. And I've got a couple of Hot Wheels in my collection too--mainly the Avengers Civil War and the Batman Rogues Gallery 5 packs. I think having other things in our Funko collections can help round them out and potentially add additional interest. Both of your collections are very nice.

P.S., I've thought about James Bond too, but will not even consider going down that rabbit trail

Inspired by many of your posts to post pics of a couple collection areas I've been working on (Popsaysyee's post this morning reviewing some of the great, early funatic collectors was really inspirational). My rooms are nowhere near complete, but thought I'd share some pics anyway. The Collection(s) is not limited to Funko only...there are Bowen, Sideshow, XM, and other pieces as well.

My garage--which is being converted into my "Man Cave" (my exercise-workroom). The garage door has inner "shelves" that are convenient for putting Pops! (I apologize that some of the pictures are a bit blurry). The sheer size of the two-car garage door has made it ideal for accommodating my large volume of Star Wars Pops! (with room to spare)





















































This is my "XM Case" on the opposite wall. Unfortunately, there's a lot of color washout in the pics from ambient and background sun













Mike's (TriFeckta's) post on 'Who else collects Hot Toys', motivated me to take a closer look at Hot Toys. So I picked up this Ultron Mark I--which I think fits pretty well into my pre-existing scheme. Thanks for sharing the idea, Mike

























Of course, I've been able to pick up protos and Pops! from many of you on this board (too many funatics to name). Some of you may especially recognize the protos. Thanks for being willing to trade, sell, and generally interact. You really help make collecting fun .





















Met Mark Hamill at this year's Dallas Fan Expo "Comic Con". He was really nice, and I got a few things signed by him--including one of two Hallmark Death Star Christmas ornaments (the unsigned one is seen as a "lamp topper" in one or two of the previous pictures; the signed one has not been included in any of these pictures). He also did a good job of signing this Rancor prototype that I got from Fugitive toys . It's hard to tell from the blurry pics, but a couple of Leia Pops! pictured earlier were signed by Carrie Fisher and JSA authenticated.









Custom Pacquiao, Mayweather, and a few athlete Pops!--including one of the greatest and most energetic athletes ever--Taz!









Sideshow Collectibles Legendary Scale Obi-Wan. Can't tell so much from the pictures, but this is a really big figure.





My study is so messy and dusty (you can see this in the various pics)...so I'm avoiding showing the messy rooms themselves for now, and concentrating on the collectibles. This is my "Bowen Balcony"--with predominantly Randy Bowen collectibles.













































Obviously not a purist, I have a low threshold for crossing and matching up different collectible lines. Here is Bowen's comic-version Dormammu with Funko's movie version Dr. Strange and Ancient One prototypes. I think the set and combination looks pretty darn good









Bowen's rendition of the earlier Guardians of the Galaxy. I only recently obtained the set, and am really impressed with it!





Finally, this is an updated pic of a Captain American space that I'm still working on. I was able to get some of the items signed by Stan Lee--including the back of the larger figure's shield. Still trying to figure exactly what I want this area to look like, so it'll probably be different later.

Glad nonotglenn/jahilbert re-posted these previously listed pics. They (and some others throughout this thread) show some great and creative options for display.

I did something similar (in a way). In one of my earlier pics I posted Bowen busts positioned in an undecorated, sectioned wooden box that came from Target (reasonably light weight). On the wall opposite of that Bowen display (which is sitting on a niche-ledge) I have something similar actually hanging on the opposite wall:







Pops! and protos fit well into these slots too. If one feels so inclined and talented, it would be easy enough to spray paint this or a similar type of box.


I used OOKS (or similar product) for this--and as often as I can for most of my fairly simple wall hanging jobs.



Anyone who has ever used this product before knows that these hooks are inexpensive, simple to use, and quite strong. You can pretty much get them at any home improvement/hardware store. I love them because they don't make big holes in the wall, they're pretty easy to remove or adjust, and they support listed weights very well--even up to 50 or 100 pounds. I don't try to push it, but I will use one or a series of hooks to feel secure and confident about a project. Sometimes I'll line them up to get the desired support or effect. I think there are an array of options one could use with this product--including using shadow boxes...and I believe one could go for effects that are more formal and finished, or ones that are relaxed or unfinished, depending on one's taste.

You must be pretty brave to have all those evil-doers in the same room with you (including those big ones--LOL. ). There was a time I refused to have Chucky in the same room with me. And Krueger wasn't far behind. Those props are great for Halloween, I'm sure.

You must be pretty brave to have all those evil-doers in the same room with you (including those big ones--LOL. ). There was a time I refused to have Chucky in the same room with me. And Krueger wasn't far behind. Those props are great for Halloween, I'm sure.

Thanks Well I sleep in this same room so not so bothered by them :P I made the Pinhead out of a mannequin. I've always been enthralled by the macabre. But the aim is to create diversity and balance with the room. I already have a MOTU / animation corner set up (just missing the inclusion of the related Pop!s).
