I dunno, maybe it’s the announcement of yet another NFT drop meaning a couple thousand new Freddys are destined for this world, but it just got me thinking , and I know how much you all hate me thinking so I’ll end it there.
I love Freddy’s can’t have enough of them!

Re: Anybody else think they’re overdoing it on Freddy lately?
I am very late to this thread, but I agree, kinda. They're definitely not as unique as they used to be and a lot easier to obtain, but I still enjoy seeing my favorite characters turned into Freddy. This past SDCC is where I really felt the abundance of Freddy, specifically at the booth. I really liked what Funko had been doing with their themed booths and having a booth related Freddy exclusive to the con, Clown Freddy and Frightmare Freddy, but at SDCC it was a bit of overkill. There were so many Freddy's that I feel like each one took away from the others and as a result I don't think most of them sold out. I think if they had one solid Freddy that represented the booth, Mayor Freddy perhaps, it would have been a hit.

I personally don't mind it as there are collectors of Freddy and there are collectors of the IP that he's repping in those items. So if you are into horror, although they may have produced a hundred plus of him, there are considerably less that are horror. So if you look at this from an IP perspective, the number is fair. Plus, it's given never collectors an opportunity to acquire pieces of him (that even as recent as a few years ago) were mostly unattainable to the majority of the public (whether due to cost or access).

Once freddy hits the anime world we will probably see more and more come often than what we see now

i think they need to bring back the 2016,2017 where quantities of the Freddy were low and cooler looking. Freddys are suppose to be a novelty exclusives... not liimted to 5k and above...

Yes, personally I think they are over doing it with a lot of pops. There are so many to keep up with. But I do love the Freddy pops.

yea I hear you. It can get overwhelming. What I do is take a break then go for either ones I want or for the ones that drop previously in the second market

I love Freddy as much as the next guy but as many people are stating in this thread I guess there is such a thing as too much of a good thing & I agree...but lest we forget part of the reason we have the LE numbers in the thousands is because once upon a time people complained how difficult it was to acquire Freddy Pops

Right there with you. G1 Transformers is the only line I work to stay 100% on.
But in terms of the post topic I tend to agree. If they REALLY want to spread around the Freddy love to general sales, maybe they could reserve variants for the special events.

I understand how you feel, last few years I been really picky on what I collect because I have no room and because it can get out of hand also depends if you are collecting because of value or what you like or both nothing wrong with any of those. They can pump out all the Freddy’s they want! it don’t matter to me because at the end of the day I am going to go for what I really want. Because I can be like not for me pass!!! but at the same time that same Freddy can be pop somebody has been waiting for so it is good to have many different versions of Freddy because the possibilities of a Freddy as a character are endless.

Of two minds on this. On the one hand, I am always excited to see new Freddy's released, but on the other hand, I think the release of just different versions of a Freddy (especially just different colorways) cheapens the novelty of it. There are plenty of characters --and ppl-- for Freddy to imitate, no need to dilute it with slight variations.

Yeah I hope they stopped doing multiple colorway, takes away the fun

My only issue with the new Freddy pops is that I won't be able to get some of the ones I really like. I don't do NFT and don't have the funds to pay for high priced ones on the second market. Sad, but I'll manage.

I'm in the same boat. It's a bummer sometimes but there are plenty of pops out there I love AND can actually afford every once in a while. Especially with all the sales going on lately. Those have been fun even if the reason for them isn't.

I would take a look at some of the older ones (I'm sure a few are on your list); I'd focus on those versus ones that came out in the last six months/year. Many have started to come down in price as newer "grails" have moved into the space. You may be surprised at how some out-of-range pieces have now become in-range.

Re: Anybody else think they’re overdoing it on Freddy lately?
It has crossed my mind at some point, but I have to admit that I’m still a sucker for Freddy .
I was telling myself to just stick to Freddys that have a license attached to them, but I still even pick up all the sporty ones even though I’m not really into sports and I’m a big fan of all these Halloween ones! Lol
I especially appreciate that Funko is able to do more with the head-sculpt compared to previous Freddy’s which were mainly just headswaps with minor paint changes.

It's a lot! While it's not a bad thing to have cool Freddys, it seemed a but more....special (?) only to see him at events vs NFT drops, for example.

I wanted to revisit this topic because they have been definitely overdoing Freddy a bit, but I also think they should make an effort to try and make Freddy more "mainstream".
I really liked the idea of an animated show for Freddy. Maybe get it picked up by Netflix, like what Studio MDHR did with Cuphead or even CD Projekt Red did with Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
Give more a reason for Freddy to be as produced as he is now.

In 2023 alone I have acquired about 28 or 29 new Freddies... but when you consider I traveled to SDCC and Fundays, and the shipments of NFT Royalty Freddies finally arriving, it's not unexpected... 6 of them just arrived from the Halloween series 2 NFT drop, 13 of them were from SDCC/Fundays/FunOnTheRun activities, and of course the royalties from several NFT drops. I didn't go to NYCC or it probably would have been more, and I suspect I'll get a few more deliveries of NFT royalty Freddies before the year is out. Trick is, just get what you love... don't have to have them all.

I admit i like a lot of the new freddys, but like most there is way to may variants so that makes it super hard for Freddy collector to complete their sets. I like it a little better when it was a little more rare and limited to few events. The past 2 year Fundays have been pure fire though, Fright Night stuff .... not so much
