Back to the Future Ridez with Einstein (and Doc/ Marty Dorbz figures)

Postby treswright » Tue May 10, 2016 12:23 pm

Funko finally posted a glam of it, pretty cool! I collect the Ridez so of course this is a must-have for me :-) I'm really digging that they put Einstein in the driver's seat, sweet :-)

Image

EDIT- Sorry, got so excited about the ride that I neglected to post the pics of Marty and Doc lol

Dorbz ride 1 - Pop rides 0

I'm sure the score is actually much more in favor of dorbz rides but you get the point ;)

I don't think it makes much sense. I mean I know the POP was done, but it's not like Doc Brown ever became radioactive at one point in the film.

I mean if they wanted to make a more accurate simple variant, I guess metallic/Chrome Delorean would be really cool. Other variants that would make sense would be if BTTF 3 cowboy Marty was made, then a dirty variant with noose or something.

Hahaha! My GF says the Pop version reminds her of a dog squeaky toy. It's made out of nasty soft vinyl, like the Scarface Caddy. So yeah, this one will be a big step up between the material, the much higher cuteness factor and... EINSTEIN! :-)

Kind of agree with you on that one. The POP Ride really does feel and look like a dog squeaky toy. I don't know exactly where among the POP Rides the DeLorean was made, but I'm assuming it was one of the first models given the material used. I know with the TMNT van and I believe the Deadpool Truck the POP that comes with them is exclusive for the Ride. Not sure if that's the same case for most Rides now. I do wish that was the case for the Delorean Ride though. Imagine a Marty McFly in Hazmat Suit with the Delorean Ride. That would have been pretty cool.

I'm not a Dorbz guy, but I'm an enormous BttF guy, so this is a must-buy. The fact that this is probably one of maybe three Einstein figures in existence makes it all the more adorable.

That's the trick, Funko: Just keep making Back to the Future stuff and we WILL buy them.

I'm glad I am not alone, I don't "hate" Dorbz per-say, but I definitely would prefer the franchises I collect in POP! or Mystery Mini form. They are the two Funko lines I collect, though I may be tempted to buy these(along with the "Supernatural") Dorbz if I found them for the right price.

I am a huge "Back to the Future" fan as well, so I may become a hypocrite and snag these at the right price. Hell, if I can buy a 25th Anniversary bluray set, then turn around and buy the 30th Anniversary set then honestly I'll probably get these.

I feel your pain, friend lol ...and I went all out and bought the "flux capacitor"-edition 30th anniversary set that included a laughably cheap cardboard recreation of the flux capacitor and the entire (unwatchable) animated series. Why? Because five-year-old me will not rest until my entire house is decked out in McFly-themed merchandise.

So actually, Funko, let me redact my statement. Please don't make any more BttF merch, for the sake of my wallet and financial well-being.

Yup, I'm right there with you on that super duper special edition with flashy lights set. And, yeah I tried rewatching the cartoon, I just could not get into it like I thought I would. I plan on eventually giving it another try, but the little I watched was hard getting through two or three episodes. I would like to see Funko make a handful of more "Back to the Future" characters in POP! form though, mainly a couple Tannens, guitar wielding Marty, 1885 Marty, and probably George.

Yeah it was very early in the production run. The Batmobile was Pop Ride 01, the DeLorean 02 and Tony's Convertible was 03. Most Rides are hard plastic, it looks and feels to me like injection molded plastic like model car kits. The only "vehicle" exceptions are the DeLorean and Tony's Caddy. The non-vehicle Rides (Daeny's dragon and Ant-Tony) are vinyl but that makes sense because they are figures. Anyway I hope Funko learned their lesson from the DeLorean and Caddy and continue making Ride vehicles in hard plastic. So far the Dorbz Ridez that have been released are also hard plastic.

I know with the TMNT van and I believe the Deadpool Truck the POP that comes with them is exclusive for the Ride. Not sure if that's the same case for most Rides now.

Interesting question. I've never really compared my Ride pilots/ drivers to their regular counterparts, but I -think- that almost all of them are exclusive to the Rides. Mean Machine- Muttley has his goggles on. Jake car- Finn is holding a donut. TMNT- holding a slice of pizza. Ecto-1- only way to get unslimed Zeddemore. etc. etc. The possible exceptions- 01 (Batmobile), I think the Batman in that one is the same as the regular issue? Except for having a hole in his foot for the car peg. Maybe 02 as well, Marty looks the same. But Tony has different eyebrows and squinty eyes, and from then on I think all the pilots/ drivers were exclusive.

The numbers for the Back to the Future Dorbz (167, 168 and 007 for Ride) make quite a jump from the last numbers I have (156 Louise - Bob's Burgers). Anyone know if I'm missing any in between that have been officially announced? Same with Ride #006?

160 Boo (Monster Disguise)
161 Aurora (Blue Dress)

Ride # 006 has not been announced yet that I've seen.
