N00b Hikari Question
I just got my first Hikari and it's great!!
My only question is that I noticed the top and bottom flaps are taped closed. Is this normal? I was just under the impression that they were supposed to ship without any tape.

I have two. Both sides taped closed with one piece of clear tape on each side.

Re: N00b Hikari Question
I have most all the Hikari's that have come out, and they all have tape closing the top and bottom flaps.
I only opened one though, and I just took a knife and cut it by sliding the knife in the space between the flap and box.

Thanks! Doesn't this go against the "no one will know if you opened" concept???

Re: N00b Hikari Question
I think Funko added the tape so that buyers can see if the figure is new in sealed box or if it has been opened.

Re: N00b Hikari Question
I think it goes against the theory of numbering them on a card inserted in the box then. When people buy them from you they might want to know the actual number of it before buying in some cases.

Re: N00b Hikari Question
I slit the tape on the bottom, slide one hand in to force the tape off the card, remove it, take the tape off both sides and turn it around so that the name & number is visible, put tape on the back and put it back in so that name & number is visible in the box...i wish Funko would turn it around to start with.

I love the boxes too, but they're sooooooo big. If I collect the bajillion Hikari I want and keep them in the boxes, I'll run out of space before the end of the year!

Re: N00b Hikari Question
I have about 6 or 7 Hikari so far. All of them are in the box still. So let me get this straight the only thing that is numberd is the card? Is there a number on the piece that matches the card?

Re: N00b Hikari Question
All of mine are taped except my Jiangshi, and for some reason my Sunrise Batman isn't taped on the top. I always open them to see the numbers, you just have to carefully take the tape off. The card is taped as well, I just slide it off (it comes out easy) and check the number, then put it back how it was.

Re: N00b Hikari Question
Turn it over before you put it back so the name & # are visible...who cares about the little picture showing !

Re: N00b Hikari Question
Is their anyway to remove the stickiness the tape leaves, I opened my hikari after removing the tape and I hate the sticky residue that's left over

Re: N00b Hikari Question
I often have to clean sticky residue off English Porcelain figurines. Generally I use nail polish remover although I've seen lighter fluid and rubbing alcohol used as well. Dab a bit on a cotton ball and rub lightly. Dab off the extra fluid and the rest should very quickly evaporate. I've seen the same trick used on action figure backing boards without damaging them.
Basically it's the alcohol that removes the residue.

Goo Gone also removes sticky residue.

Re: N00b Hikari Question
Kevin you just brought back a childhood memory. My mother had a bottle of Goo Gone. She used it for presents. You always have to take a price tag off a gift so she would pull the tag off and use the Goo Gone to get the left over tag and residue off.
