Any value in deformities?

Postby Rydon1981 » Sun May 27, 2018 12:30 pm

I bought a Pop TV Legends of Tomorrow Atom figure where it turned out to be deformed, the right foot and visor are angled up. I went to replace it on Amazon and while they sent out a new, perfectly made figure, they said I didn't have to return the deformed figure. My question, as the title says, is there any value in this, like the old 24 cent Jenny stamp with the upside down plane? Or would I be wasting my time trying to put it on ebay?

It's defective. The only ones with any value are confirmed factory mistakes on paint jobs. Like the Daenerys Red and green dragon, for example.

Feel free to chime in anyone who knows something contrary. :)

Nope. No value in it whatsoever. In fact, it’s probably less valuable than it would be otherwise.

I believe less also, especially when the paint job is messed up.

I would also say valued less. Most collectors regardless if it is Funko or anything else are looking for perfection.

It depends on the circumstances but mostly nah, not much if any. Keep it and have fun with it.

Which is absurd considering it would be super simple to take a Daenerys and paint the little dragon red or green.

There are fakes. Those of us collecting a little longer can tell the difference but the newer collectors have a harder time. There's a fake one one on eBay right now for sale. It's from a good seller too. :( I reported it but still there

I would say no. There have been errors that are confirmed from Funko that are fixed and then value is there. But rarely.

I wouldn't pay anything for a deformity like that. It would be too easy to fake since boxes aren't sealed.

There might be someone interested in it though.

Yeah the mistake would have to be pretty epic where everyone would want it. A deform figure, no one would want for their collection

I bought 2 Flocked Grumpy Bear from Box Lunch because you never know in what condition they will come.... well., I opened the first one and notice something is off with the face/mouth area and I couldn't figure it out until I opened the second.... they had glues the flocked face on the first upside down so his nose is where his chin should be!!!! lol
No need to call me sir or mister.... David is fine.

I say it is a hit or miss depends on what the deformity is.

I think it definitely depends, but generally I don’t think there is not any real value.

I agree with you mistakes made by the company like the spelling errors or numbers on boxes, example back to the future boxes or haunted mansion names of the characters in the wrong box, slight difference in value because of the difficulty attaining them so it drives the price because folks need to complete there collections

Some paint error pieces, yes. Deformities, not so much. From what I've seen anyways.

Nope. Defects are defects. No added value for missing limbs, the wrong limbs, broken or bent limbs, or pops upside down in the box. Also, no extra value for misspellings on the box either. There's only a handful of 'errors' that are worth anything, outside of them....nada. You got a broken toy.

I don't see any significant value increases for deformities. Errors, maybe.

Hmm im not sure how much more valuable a deformity can be, but to each his own right? Maybe someone will see more value in it
