What was your first Pop and why?

Moderators please combine if this post already exists, but I'm curious to hear how everyone started their collection, or addiction to some .

My first pop was gifted to me as a fan of Game of Thrones. It was Jon Snow and in turn my first purchased pop was Ygritte.

A BB8! I won it at a birthday party for my cousin, in a game of bingo. It had a small ad for Smuggler's Bounty, which after a couple google searches, introduced me to Funko.

My first was the original Superman; and I must admit I only bought it because it was really cheap and it would fit a gap on a shelf. 8 months later I actually looked them up, discovered Friends Pops existed, and was instantly hooked.

My first Pop was the Dark Phoenix. Jean Grey is my ultimate favorite hero of all time. As an anniversary gift shortly after, I got the Greeen Phoenix from ECCC. I was hooked for sure

My first was a Captain Cold I stumbled upon while looking for figures from the CW version of The Flash a few years back.

My first pop(s) were RotJ!Luke, original Yoda, movie!Hannibal Lector, and Jaime Lannister, back in 2013. I thought pops were super cute. Luke and Yoda because I'm a huge SW fan and they're my faves. Hannibal because I've always loved the Hannibal books and movies, plus there were no pops from the show back then. And Jaime because I was super into the asoiaf books back then and I thought the detailing on his armor was awesome. Pops have come a long way since then, but that level of detail was pretty impressive in 2013.

And now I own like 300 pops

My first pop was a 2012 metallic alien. I had a friend who was going and asked if I wanted anything so I checked to see what was coming out and saw that and figured I would have her grab me one. I never thought it would turn out to be worth as much as it is today. My next few pops were from the 2013 sdcc and I didn't really buy many at first following that because I didn't have space....at first but the more I came across them, the more I bought them and now I cant stop.

My first pop was darth vader pop. I got him cause I couldn’t find anything else to get at hot topic for their buy 2 get 1 free sale. After researching pops and seeing how many different ones there were I got hooked.

My first pop was Tyrion Lannister. At the time I was selling Funko products online...legacy figures and mystery minis... I liked them aesthetically but pops were only slightly on my radar. The minis weren't selling blind bagged so I started opening them and selling them loose. I started watching GOT so I would be familiar with the characters. Loved Tyrion from day one and when the pops came out I ordered a few cases. That was it. 5 years and many fun times later, here I am.

My first pop was Rick Grimes. I just thought it looked cool, then I gave my wife a Woody (Toy Story is our thing) and we've been collecting since.

My friend bought me an Unmasked Vader and orange Batman for Christmas, 3 years ago. I started collecting Batman and Star Wars, after that. I thought they were freaking weird, but they were also kind of cool. I had no idea how far it would actually go. I had about 30 and my wife said it was gettin out of hand. I found a few for her, and she started collecting. Then our boys started collecting. Every Christmas is a Popalooza in our family. We have about 500 in the house. We'd have more, but we try to control which lines and types we collect to keep the numbers down. We purged a few hundred, last year, as well. I love it, though. Hunting and collecting is a family affair for us.

Seven years ago saw Belle at Barnes and Noble. Had to have it for my B&tB collection. Tried to resist buying more (still wish I'd given in and picked up the LOTR stuff!), and over the past several years went from half a dozen figures to several hundred.

My first ever Pop was a Game of Thrones one. Although I just mustn't have been into them at the time. My friend bought it for me when he was away one weekend with his girlfriend. I think it was a Cersei Lannister one. Not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure it was a Cersei. I actually gave it away a while afterwards to a girlfriend who loved GoT (as I say, I wasn't really into them or didn't know much about them at the time!). My second one was another Game of Thrones one a girl bought for me (I guess everyone knew I was a huge Game of Thrones fan so they would buy me them!). The second was a Daenery Targaryen one if I remember correctly. I gave it to my cousin's little kid one day. Turns out years later I get interested in Pops and start collecting! Funny how these things happen! Haha.

My first pop was CARL GRIMES and it was given to me by my son (who was 12 years old at the time) because I am a photographer and went to Atlanta to photograph Chandler Riggs for the cover of a magazine (I am also a huge fan of The Walking Dead) so he got it for me as a gift upon my return home. It is very special to me.

I was given tupac as a gift. Got me started on the Funko path. First POPs I bought where the Dark Knight Batman n joker. Just because it’s my favorite movie. Batman best hero and joker best villain enough said

Ghost rider. Seen the movie and didn't know what a funko pop was back in 2013 but a booth had pops at a swapmeet and they were selling them. Thought ghost rider looked pretty solid and cool so I picked him up.
