i figure the chances o the box being good or bad are pretty much the as if it came from box lunch direct. just assume damage

I'm a big fan of this character and love toy story, but I'm not a fan of metallic. Saved myself some $ on this one.

So the damage doesn't have much to do with where it was shipped to. Boxlunch is now shipping funko pops in the sorter box with the sorter box in a bag. It is just a terrible way to ship pops. I got lucky as there was no damage on mine, so the funatic on here I sold it to for price and cost is getting a good condition one.

Finally picked up my order at Box Lunch this weekend! Love the sculpt but was anyone else expecting it to look a bit more metallic? I can only really tell the difference when I put them under good lighting!

I will never do store delivery again. I’ve had my last 3 orders get screwed up getting store delivery. One of my orders was even sold to another customer.

While convenient to pick up in theory, if you don't have competent people working at the time of your delivery this can happen. I'd rather pay the extra, as well, for the peace of mind.

Re: Metallic Army Man Pop
Picked up my online order from the store. The Army Man box received some damage, due to the poor protection Box Lunch offered for this item. Just the small Funko Pop size box in a plastic shipping bag. And with the typical mistreating from the delivery company, both the shipping box and the Pop box have a damaged upper front corner.
This weekend the Toy Story Land Tour hits the Orland Park Mall, in Orland Park, IL. They said they will have extras available, maybe I can exchange the damaged one. Fingers crossed.
This was the first time an order didn't come in a bigger box with padding. Very disappointed if this is a new trend for shipping.

Sadly, BL is not the only company doing this. Oddly, Target has vastly improved their shipping. Ordered 2 pops and they were in small boxes with plenty of bubble wrap inside of a larger box with plenty of bubble wrap in that box. Very well done Target.

sadly i don't think most retailers care too much, as they don't really see a problem with box damaged, as long as the merchandise inside the box isn't damaged...

Prior to the recent rash of poly bag debacles, I felt most of the regular retailers (e.g. HT, Target, BL) have done well with shipping.

Re: Metallic Army Man Pop
After calling the Box lunch store in Orland Park, IL, they confirmed I would be able exchange the Pop for a better one. Now I have a long drive early tomorrow to get there before store opening, so I can get this problem fixed.
As for stores' policy that if the Pop itself is ok but the box is bad, this is a horrible thought process. I have always considered the whole packing around the item just as important as the item within, for anything I am collecting. No company should tell you how to collect and display. If I saw this damaged Pop box on the shelf, I wouldn't buy it.
Stores shouldn't be alienating its customers. Things happen in transit, but at least do a better job on their end with protection of the item. I emailed Box Lunch and explained the big concern I have with lack of protection during shipping and basically said that if this a new trend, I won't be buying anything online from them. Loss of business is their biggest concern. I'm one person, so it won't be a big loss, but one leads to two and so on. Suddenly, its a big problem.

Hot Topic and Box Lunch has been sending their pops in those smaller boxes inside. I think they asked Funko to do that with their exclusives for fullfillment, they decided the extra 20 cents a box costs is better then dealing with constant returns

Re: Metallic Army Man Pop
Conclusion to my damaged Pop story. I was able to exchange my damaged Army man at the Box Lunch in Orland Park during the Toy Story Land Tour stop. Very happy this timed out well, for if it didn't stop here, I would stuck with a damaged Pop.
As for the Toy Story Land Tour display, lots of banners with concept art, some larger than life toys, such as wooden alphabet blocks. The kids there got a kick out of it with the photo opportunities. For adults, modestly interesting. They had some Toy Story Land merchandise park exclusive stuff on display but not for sale.
Box Lunch had some shirts (Toy Story Land Logo, Pizza Planet and Toy Story Wheezy ones). Got the Logo one and Pizza Planet, and with the $25 off coupon they handed out, it was almost buy one get one free. Plus they had the Army man pop available for those who wanted it.

Do they? They may pay a flat fee per piece and just pass the cost along to the buyer. Why do people assume retailers are making out on shipping?
Shipping cost is fully deductible on tax returns.
