Star Wars Bases
Hi, I recently got the pop of Rey from the Last Jedi and was a little shocked when I found I couldn’t get it off the base (I didn’t want to use force- no not THE force) but doesn’t anyone know why they’ve stuck it to the base and, more importantly an easy way I can remove her from the base? Thanks

Re: Star Wars Bases
I noticed this as well and was super bummed about the change, maybe it was change passed down from the licensor?

Re: Star Wars Bases
Dip the base and her feet into some hot water, should pop right off after a little bit. Might have to bend her feet while they are still warm to get her to stand properly, then run them under cold water. No more stand.
Assuming the licensor required the new change, seems like everything since the Last Jedi has been glued on.

Re: Star Wars Bases
Ya I've asked Funko during some Q&As about this. Why are the newer star wars pops being glued to the bases?? And I didnt get an answer
I'm guessing it's a licensing thing? I dont like it though
Oh and i wanted to take one off, so I just pulled really hard and it came off
but it left some paint on the base from chewys feet

This is a bummer, I really liked how they were removable so it at least gave you the option of displaying them without the base. And I agree this was definitely passed down by the licensor. Maybe if enough people complain to Funko they can provide feedback and hopefully get it changed back. Photos with the base don’t look as good.

Yes this is also on their mystery minis. All the new hope minis came off the base and when the The Last Jedi came out, they were glued down.
I have to believe its mandatory from Lucasfilm, as i imagine its a bit more work to glue on the bases.

Re: Star Wars Bases
Yea, from what I've heard it's because of licensing issues, which is why bases are required for the Star Wars lines. Maybe you could slowly separate it with an x-acto or razor?

I always keep mine on the bases anyways, but I like taking them off the bases when I take pictures for my Instagram. That's why I dont like that they're glued on now

That's a bummer about the bases, but like Wendy said you can use hot water to remove them or probably a hair dryer on high heat would do the trick as well.

huh. This is interesting. I'm assuming this must be a new Star Wars specific thing since I haven't noticed it with other lines.

I'm surprised that Hasbro doesn't insist that the base actually be part of the figure

Star wars pops always had to come on bases and be bobble heads based on the licensing agreement, that's the only way funko was allowed to make star wars pops I believe.

Yeah, I was sad to find that out during Funko's photo a day challenge. I really enjoyed being able to take them off of their base.

Yea, that annoys me too. I love having my pops off the stands for photos. It looks more natural.

Well yes - but I've never had an issue taking any pop (SW or no) off the base - though I haven't tried with any recent SW pops.

Same for me! I actually have a swiss army knife for the hard ones. I don't wanna damage them, but I need them off the bases.

I tried the hair dryer on TLJ Luke, and could only get one foot off. Put it on for over a minute, the legs were wobbly enough to reform, but I guess it depends on the amount of glue.
Water boil and just dip in the base/feet, a lot less time to dip.

Yeah, just make sure that water is boiling, use tongs, maybe even an ove glove. Just put the base and feet, try with a common first. The worst that can happen is the legs bend a little, but it will harden back up, and you can keep the legs and feet straight while hardening to maybe even stand better without the base.

Re: Star Wars Bases
I’ve been told that Hasbro has a wide ranging license when it comes to Star Wars and Bobble Heads and Bases made it possible for Funko to get the license. I’m actually surprised the Pops weren’t glued on from day one. Good to know there’s a workaround for it.

Re: Star Wars Bases
If glueing the bases on the star wars pops means we keep getting new star wars pops than I'm happy with it. But hopefully one day they wont need to be glued on anymore and go back to them being removable.
