Metallic Great Grape Ape 24 PCs
Metallic Great Grape Ape 24 PCs
Have a question for the Funko Community!
I’m new to this forum so not to sure how this works
I’m sure someone out there has to know!
Okay so I recently purchased A metallic great grape ape Funko coin bank limited to 24 pcs
It was sold on Gemini collectibles years back with a description stating only 2 were made, even though clearly 24 were made
Pictures of the exact same ape online show the him having white eyes, and a stamp on the bottom of it
So here’s the issue
My ape is a bit different
Mine has pink tinted eyes, and no print/stamp on it (shown in pictures down below)
I don’t believe this is a fake, for an original Funko piece with a mold like this
I talked to other OG collectors and some told me this very well could be a colour reject item, a “sample” piece that never made it to production for whatever reason (not a proto, a colour reject)
Is this just as rare as the actual thing, or more rare?
Possibly close to being as rare as the prototype to a certain collector?
Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!!

Can wait to see this one. Waited a long time for grape ape to be released. Now bring on the metallic variant.

Re: Metallic Great Grape Ape 24 PCs
Maybe the ones with pink tinted eyes were the only two ever made. Seems more rare if that’s the difference between the regular and your version.

I can't speak for the colour reject thing but if it was sold by Gemini, you can definitely scratch any chance of it being fake off of the list.

There are many "Color Rejects" for many different funko products. They are always produced in a limited number because they are test pieces. If Gemini validated and sold it then it would be a valid piece of Funko history.

As others have stated for sure if you got it off gemini you can check it being fake off the list. Sounds like a cool piece.

This just looks plain awesome. I always loved the cartoon and it's wacky humour so any sort of Funko merchandise with the Grape Ape is always cool.

I owned this piece a while back but decided to part with it a few years ago due to the lack of space. I distinctively remember that my grape ape had that pink tint to the eyes but I can't say I remember anything about the stamp on the bottom. I was at the Fundays the year they gave this away and I don't think mine came in a box numbered 1 of 24 either because I would've kept the box. I highly doubt that this is a fake because mine looked exactly like this when I got it at that Fundays event that particular year. Looks legit to me, and a very cool piece you've got there

I loved this piece so much when I first seen this thread that I had to get it one day. Well I was lucky to be able to get one and it is even better in person!

Very interesting piece. Pink eyes without the imprint on the bottom of the base - never knew of this. Mine has neither. 7 of 24. Also have the proto (nice, Kevin!!!).

Congrats on a very nice wobbler. If it’s a color reject, then I would assume it’s not part of the LE 24 count. If you still kept the Gemini receipt, you’re good in case you ever decide to let it go and sell it.
Sounds like from all the input on this thread, a lot was learned about this piece so thank you for that
