High ratios are fine with me but keep Exclusives 1/12 or even 1/6 so more people can finish there sets easier.

1/12 That way I actually have a chance to be able to get the whole collection.

This legitimately ended collecting MMs for me. It's hard enough to find every piece without 4 1/6 screwing things up. I'd really like it if the smallest ratio in sets went back to 1/12. Sure they may add more 1/6 to get people to buy more, but like for me all it did was backfire.
Exactly the same thing happened to me. I just kept getting so many duplicates that it didn’t make sense to keep buying. So I just stopped buying them. I would love a 1/12 ratio again.
Factor in that the Targets and Walmarts near me get maybe one case and it becomes even worse because I either have to order online or from ebay. I just got 9 1/6's and a 1/12 from a 10 piece order from Hot Topic. My closest Hot Topic does regularly get the exclusive cases in, but they are always picked clean of exclusives by the time I get out of work. There are only so many minis I can donate to schools before people look at me like I'm insane.

I'm in the 'don't like 1/6' club, especially since I do not have the shake-fu some have and I'm not going to bring a scale in to weigh things (not that my luck would even improve that way, heh). If I like a set I'd just like to have the whole set, and if there's only a few that I want from a set I'm fine with trying my luck - but getting stuck with multiples from one box is annoying.

No ration less than 1/12. No ratio higher than 1/36...maybe 1/72.
Certainly no 1/72 for store specific boxes (Hot Topic, Target, etc.). They don't get enough stock in as it is.

I personally don't like the store exclusives especially if there is not one that is close by. Take the FYE motu PSH exclusives. The only place I can get hem at is ebay for up to 6 times the price which is really unfair and takes away the feeling of the hunt.

I'm not a fan of store exclusives either because of the nature of places like Walgreens and Target. Pops are hard enough to get at those locales, let alone mystery minis. Those instantly become ebay exclusives for me, which of course means it costs more. And, honestly cost isn't my issue, its the thrill of the hunt. I enjoy the rush of opening those boxes, but...you have to be able to find them and that is tough at Walgreens, Target, etc.

This is perfect.
buried_by_pops wrote:Eliminate 1/6 and anything above 1/36, and keep store exclusives at 1/12 and I think you have the perfect balance between hunting and collecting. Anything else and you are just generating profit for well-connected flippers rather than the company itself. The biggest problem is with store exclusives. How do you have a 1/72 exclusive at a store that is going to only ever get 24-36 in stock? I find it very hard to believe that anyone was at Hot Topic buying box after box of LotR hoping for an Eowyn or Lurtz once they realized how impossible they would be to stumble across. I mean even a large city with six HTs (and how many of those are there?) that all restocked once would only have two of each figure in the entire city. That is ridiculous. I get that some level of after-market keeps vitality in your fan base, but Funko has missed out on money they could have earned from me as I have personally limited the number of sets I have pursued because of this issue.

1/12 so it's easier to collect a set. Even if the price was double it would be cheaper than crazy amounts some of us spend. I would prefer it this way

Yes! This is an ongoing problem too. Target and Wal-Mart rarely get many boxes (if any) making them that much more difficult to find. For me the whole thing stopped being fun and just became a source of annoyance.

The other day i pulled a Ronin from a Hot Topic box and was so disappointed that it wasn't an exclusive Tony Stark, with ratios like this I think the worst thing is when the store exclusive cases don't have any of the store exclusives.

I prefer all 1/12 ratios. Less time on hunting and saves money on gas. Most importantly, it will be easier to complete a set.

Re: Ratios debate! Do you prefer high ratios or all 1/12 sets?
I enjoy the hunt, so do not enjoy the 1/12 ratios. However, as many of you have said, those 1/72 exclusives are a BEAST. The couple of sets I still have are complete, the 1/72 included (HP 1 and 2, LotR), but that was more tricky, and more expensive, than I'd like.
Honestly, though, I don't mind THAT much as long as I'm only trying to finish one set at a time. Trying to collect HP series 2 and the LotR series was challenging to do at the same time for me, particularly considering the 1/72 exclusives. Like, one a year would be okay with me, even with the harder finds. But obviously I have no control over release dates haha!

I think the ratios for the recent GoT and Toy Story lines are perfect. Few 1/6 minis (only 2 per set), exclusives are 1/12, and the rest aren't that difficult to find.

I agree. These ratios make it perfect for collecting and make it where it isn’t profitable for flippers to snatch up all the cases.

Agreed. There's still some element of the hunt, but not as bad with store exclusives.

I'm definitely in the 1/12 pro camp. I'm a completionist when it comes MMs, so being able to buy a whole case and get a good chunk of it out of the way is great — especially when getting store exclusives from anywhere but HT or EB Games is a nightmare since we don't have access here.
This is exactly why I'm still missing Faker

On the other hand though, I know we all hate sets which have four 1/6 pieces, but I understand Funko's strategy for these. Most of the 1/6 characters are the well known ones (the Big 4 Avengers for Endgame, Bugs and Daffy for Looney Tunes, Aladdin Jasmine and Genie), so if a casual fan walks in and just takes a random box, chances are they will get a Mini that they will be happy with since it's a major character from the set.
Of course, this makes it harder for us Mystery Mini completists to complete lines without getting doubles.
Ebony Maw is probably the exception to this. I hated that mini so much

I prefer mine to be easily attainable. I got SUPER lucky with the sailor moon ones.. I got Sailor Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and Mercury all in one swing. Then got two extras. As sad as I was to not get Pluto, I got the main 5.
Personally... I'd kind of like for them to also be available as a non mystery.. . I get paying a bit more, but I want the complete collection without paying flippers.

I definitely prefer 1/12 so that I can just buy a case and be done with the set. My area has so many flippers that it’s no fun going around hunting only to see every case has been raided and I see listing on eBay/Mercari from my area...

I prefer 1/12 one case complete sets. Exclusives are cool as long as they are accessible at the exclusive retailer. It’s already a chore to make sure I get to a case before it sells out. Don’t like the added stress of trying to find higher ratio pieces as well.

Short answer is I prefer 1/12 in general, but especially if it is a set I really like. I don't mind store exclusives, they get me to go around a bit. However the store exclusives need to.be reasonable in their ratios and not something crazy. Also, places like Walgreens need to be banned from having exclusives ever!

I expect you would find a large divide between the large urban and smaller city/rural collectors regarding this question. I am in a large city and was able to easily complete the most recent Game of Thrones set because I was able to visit four Hot Topics in the space of a few hours and then a BoxLunch a few weekends later. It also helped that I am not on the west coast and could benefit from the intel provided by the generous members of this forum. I will admit that chase was a lot of fun, and the couple of duplicate rare pieces I got and sold made the complete set I kept basically free, but the really rare pieces just seem cruel to those collectors who have literally no chance of ever finding them in the wild.

I think I prefer varying ratios - while it’s painful to hunt and hunt and not be able to find the higher ratios for my collection - I do think it’s part of the fun in collecting mystery minis ... I have yet to complete many sets because of it so it is frustrating but I don’t think I would change it.

Unless there are exclusives, the ratios should be 1/12 so there is not so many left on the shelves. I just started getting into blind bags (Disney Kitty Blind Bags) and want to do more.

Personally, I HATE the 1/6s, like most of the rest of us. But I do prefer mixed ratios and I’m super cool with a couple 1/72s mixed in.
I don’t mind store exclusives being a little rarer. What really annoys me are the exclusive cases that don’t have a single exclusive in them. That seems really wrong somehow.

Me personally im a fan of the 1/72. Because it gives you the chance to get something extremely hard to get and sought after from the set.

the higher ratios make me have to hunt, rather than just going out and buying the entire case which is kinda boring

Don't know how I feel? I really wanted Captain America that was 1/72 and never got him. I'm fine having the older Cap from Ultron. I just buy them, and hope I get the one I like or want. If I don't, that's ok, but will not pay crazy money for one I want.

I don't mind the rarer pieces, but I don't like the 1/6 pieces at all. My fiancé and I got so many Star Wars doubles... oh my gosh!
