Not necessarily my thing to collect, but they are cute. I've got some friends who would like some of these.

I got some of the sodakats and they are adorable in person. My husband was the one who bought them, so sadly I didn't get to check out the machine that they come in. Next time I'd like to get some of the Sushi Village figures.

Is it normal to get so many duplicates?! Two of my friends have gotten an insane amount of duplicates on one try I'm talking 8 or 4...some luck!

That's my issue, . With so many "common" ones I'm sure duplicates will be aplenty.
Also, what I found neat and interesting is Funko can monitor the machines remotely. They're connected to the stores wi-fi. The TG manager was explaining to me how Funko monitors the machines stats and can adjust settings.

Is this the end for mystery mini collectors like me who enjoy the "research and then hunt effectively" strategy? Put the blind "boxes into an opaque box whose payouts can be manipulated? I am not a fan of the gambling aspect of this hobby, which seems to be the only aspect accentuated by these machines.

I doubt it. Just something different. Funko is trying to diversify as much as possible to meet their revenue projections and satisfy Wall St.

I might do the same, but I have definitely picked out the few I will be buying on eBay. Given that I barely have enough space for the collection I actually want to keep, I can't pile up any more figures that I can't quickly offload (I ended up with a fellowship of Samwise Gamgee's that I can't give away).

Best bet is to call and ask... they'll be able to see if any stores in your area have these in transit.

No doubt. I can see how people will think Funko is messing with the drop ratios. Until you all mentioned it, wasn’t something that crossed my mind. Like if too many rares get spit out then Funko will change setting and limit them for some period of time.

I’d be absolutely SHOCKED if they can monitor how many rares people pull. More likely, all they can tell is sales info in general.

Really? Because the gambling aspect is a big part of the draw for me.
I bought eight or nine so far, and only gotten one duplicate- the rainbow sushi one. And the guy working at ThinkGeek let me swap it out for one I didn’t have that they had behind the counter. So I’m pretty happy with this so far! Just pulled Globe Kid today- he’s AWESOME!
Really hoping I pull one of the Paka Paka monsters soon.

Funny because the rainbow sushi is the only duplicate I’ve pulled so far. My wife also pulled the gold hidden hyper rare from the Kawaii Village line which was a surprise.

Oh, nice! My buddy just pulled the silver PakaPaka Monster that comes from the Munchies line. I really just want the regular green one that comes in the Soda Kat series.
The ThinkGeek manager told me a rumor that the gold one is 1:100 and the silver one 1:50. Not sure how true that is, though.
