Yup, wish we could have gotten a newer version of Kobe with these new molds but that won’t happen anymore.

The Pop is very impressive for it being a fake. Sucks that almost every hobby has to deal with this. Luckily we have a community to help with authenticating.

Agreed, I'm a little amazed at all the fake Kobe pops that seem to have appeared overnight! My Facebook feed is full of people spotting fakes

Fake Signatures too!

Reminds me of some pops that came out much later than when a celebrity died.... but somehow they have a signature on their pop!

Sorry to hear that this came out to be more than likely fake. I was totally fooled when I first saw the pics, as I'm fairly new to the scene with an untrained eye. So sad that this hobby has resorted to this. Kobe is the GOAT in my eyes, and am hoping that we can get a chance in the future for a tribute Pop or something.

After seeing a thread here on a fake Freddy Pennywise from Fundays, my eyes are wide open. Who knows how many fakes i might actually have since I've made ebay purchases over the years :( Any day now, we can expect a new Kobe pop for the true fans :thumbright:

Maybe On the surface, but think of how many you would have to sell to make any significant money. Unless its like babe ruths signature which is in the thousands of dollars, the risk just seems really large?

White boarders on the front of the box are too thick. Doesn’t the authentic one have a poplife authenticity sticker at the bottom?

I bought a Klay directly from Fugitive that had thick borders. Didn't think it was fake because of the source but not sure

Interesting. I haven’t seen a klay with thick white boarders(around the face). I checked eBay too and couldn’t locate one with thick boarders

It's not as thick as the fake Kobes, but I've definitely seen thinner borders for Klay than the one I got.

Yeah unfortunately you may be right. Funko might not want to give out the impression that they are cashing in on an unfortunate event (unless a portion of it goes to the charity just like what was done with the Australian fires). Still, I'd love to see it years down the line if we get the chance.

Quite often when they send the fakes from Asian there's not an awful lot of care which goes in to the packaging. I got careless once and ended up with a captain spaulding fake just after sid haig died too... they do come out with them fast. The saddest thing is that on certain Asian production sourcing websites companies have no shame what so ever in advertising they they will make funko pops for you.

It is sad but true that eBay is becoming a dangerous place to buy pops, especially the more high end ones, although you do have some buyer security and I managed to get my money back for mine.

I actually dont mind fakes if they advertised as such and the buyer is ok with it. But your situation where you thought it was real is just not cool
