That's true the different colors , I guess for whatever reason I keep thinking "shiny" as having that sparkly effect also.
In Pokemon GO at least, they do sparkle when you tap them on the screen to encounter and attempt to catch them so there is that effect, in a way. I would've loved to see Funko produce only the shiny variants as the diamond editions (that would've made the most sense to me). With the Leafeon and Flareon (and there's a number of other Pokemon), the difference in color is barely noticeable at first glance.
