Same with jcrook, when I intially started I needed all the chases with the line I collected. Now not so much, but with the new Sodas that were revealed at WonderCon I need those chases! Maul and Ezra! Must have for me.

Not any more. Maybe a Con exclusive. Or maybe Funko shop exclusives, but outside of that no.

They announced an Eza Bridger soda?? I completely missed that! Any and everything Rebels please.
Chase wise, on sodas I have a general rule. I buy 2 (sometimes 3) cans. If none are the chase I don't buy any further cans and instead just buy the chase online. Way less of a headache and what am I going to do with a bunch of commons? I usually just give them away.

I liked the old school Chases that I've never seen in the wild, think they were all bought up before I started collecting.

In some cases no, Now for the most part you can just buy the chase in a bundle deal no having to wait in line, look around town or do an online order hoping to get lucky with the chase.

For me they aren’t, there are some chases that are pretty awesome, but unless I happen to get it with buying 2, it’s not worth spending more money without any guarantee I’ll get it.

And that’s how they get you, if you have to have you will buy multiples or buy off a third part for a huge mark up.

Yeah, if it's a line I really want to complete with the Chases, I would be okay purchasing aftermarket price. As long as I am not collecting everything and stick to a few properties.

Yes hopefully whatever line you collect isn’t too big, can you imagine collecting Pokémon, a nightmare that would bankrupt you, especially if they did chases.

Been collecting since 2015 and I’ve only found 2 chases in the wild. #1 very damaged box Black Panther, and #2 vinyl gold of Lebron James.

Agree the hunt would be fun if you came across it but the same people where I live would always be the ones to grab it so kinda phased me out

I feel like this is a very personal choice. For me it depends on the license. Some times the chases are worth it to me.

The hunt for a chase is fun if you can find it in the wild , but my luck is little to none finding any. I usually try to limit chases to lines I collect or a design I really want.

At least you realize that, I don’t collect whole lines but do collect pieces that speak to me, unfortunately those cute Pokémon are always calling my name.

Only found one chase in the wild ever, otherwise it's unfortunately secondary market. That's why I have so few and am not crazed about getting them.

I'm not driving all over burning gas to try to find them after the employees of big stores have already scooped and LCS have stashed the Chases for higher price tags. Killed the vibe on chases.

Re: Are Chases worth the Chase ?
Chase hunting sucks straight up. I've found a few but I know my gamestop manager takes the ones he wants for himself first and then if I'm lucky I'll catch one he doesn't want at just the right time when its on shelf. I've gotten luckier with ordering online then I ever have in the wild. Otherwise I'll just buy the chase online second hand or at a meetup.

Re: Are Chases worth the Chase ?
It was fun back in the day when they were 1/36. All about going to a brick & mortor and actually hunt for them. These days it seems like most people order multiples online hoping to get lucky or they just buy a chase bundle from a online vendor - takes the fun out of the hunt.

I also think it depends on the license for me too. The other day i picked up a Facebook chase Jim from the Office and I was stoked!

I pretty much agree with this, unless it is one of the couple of lines I want to try to keep complete. Then I will try to chase down that chase.

Sadly Ginzo is right on this one, I’ve never seen a chase in a store.

Not anymore tbh. I miss the 1:36 days. Chases are so common nowadays that it’s kind of meh to find one now.

I think its only worth it if its a much cooler version of the common. Sometimes I like the common version of a pop more than the chance. Also sometimes chase pops are not that much different from the common.

Re: Are Chases worth the Chase ?
It all comes down to how popular the chase variant is and who is distributing it. If its a common, I don't bother because it will be easy to add the collection in time. However when there is a really good chase I want and different enough from the non-chase, I'm game. One Piece Whitebeard is perhaps one of the best chases recently. Different box, different mold and overall very distinct. Lazy chases like Gyomei I don't think I will ever pick up. Just not worthy of having the chase sticker or going through the "chase" to get it imo.

Chases definitely aren't what they used to be. I feel even the SODA chases are less interesting than the common. I'm definitely not a fan of the die-cast pewter chases.
