SDCC UCC exclusives

Anyone have any thoughts on the UCC exclusives. They’re bringing back a lot of wanted pops that include special stickers and chase pops. Thing is i don’t understand how a retail company is allowed to essentially resell these like the Batman beyond chase is going for $60. Bad enough we already have to deal with eBay scalpers.

Other companies have been doing this for many years to my knowledge. I can remember going to cons here and there since 2014 and places like fugitive toys for example (no offense to them) always has Funko stuff for sale at it's rough value. I'm not sure that there are any "rules" saying that another company can't sell Funko stuff for a higher price. I mean heck there are dozens of booths selling Funko's sdcc exclusives from the current year at their booth for "eBay prices"

UCC won’t be the only booth you see selling special edition stickers, although they are the biggest. Chalice has a booth and they have a bunch of SE Pops, too.

I wouldn't call it scalping. They buy tons of cases of product and probably struggle to sell all the commons. At the end of the day they are a business and the Chases they receive help keep them afloat. I'd rather pay $60 to UCC or another small business than to someone who found a Chase at Hot Topic for $15 and then flipping it for $50.

Last year Chalice even had some SE pops that the exclusive retailers didn’t have until months to half a year later.

i wonder what the op would think about the vendors buying from funko and selling it at the booth. Or vendors getting to buy stuff bulk before the public even gets to get in. And if whatnot is there.. how toxic those sellers are at cons.

Yeah, I have to say I don't like it. Vendors already have better access than most 'normal' people and if they can turn and sell for a significant profit then ...

To me it's not that bad of a deal, with the odds, you'd usually have to buy at least 2 to get a chase if you're LUCKY, I know a lot of people are just willing to pony up for the guarantee

Fingers crossed I get into UCC for the cards. UCC and Funko were my heaviest selections in the portal (SIDE NOTE: This is my first SDCC, and I gotta say... what a dumpster fire the portal is! lol

I'm super pumped for the cards. Hoping I win the lottery selection. They sound like what's been happening with the Funko NFTs - just with physical cards instead of digital. We've been hoping for this over in that forum, now it's real.. or close to it seemingly!

Yeah, the cover art on the box is much better. The promo cards are basically pop pins on a card. so boring.

Unfortunately, I got no luck with the Funko and UCC booths. Let the 8 year drought continue. lol

Yeah, it’s crazy how you can go and not get any selections for any thing you submit. Luckily my son got both ucc and funko booth!!

These businesses have to do what they have to do to stay in business. I don’t mind supporting a small price hike as long as it’s within reason. lol

Unfortunately no funko booth through the portal, but got everything I wanted from site in the morning. So didn't have to pay the immediate con inflation in vendor booths for pops I couldn't get myself. I'll wait for shipping

I managed to get a box of the Funko Cards at SDCC! Would someone be kind enough to explain it to me and how this works in terms of redemption and this 1 of 1 I have been hearing about?

I read that the redemption will be for a Captain America but it’s not available to redeem for yet. Once it is, and you redeem your card, it’ll take around 16 weeks to ship. Not sure about 1 of 1, but I did see a 1 of 1 for a printing plate. The facsimile signature cards have a facsimile of the character’s name (saw a Thor).

Thank you , the line wasn't that long to be honest, I did notice that they started letting people in early though.
and by 12:30pm they werent checking times, I got in early at 12:30pm and by that time the popular stuff was all gone, still glad i got to pick up a lot though

by the way, how do you the badges to your signature or profile?

So I ended up winning a UCC lottery session for Thursday morning. I bought a box of the cards. But after seeing images posted online of what the individual cards looked like, I was super disappointed and sold the box right away. They could have done SO MUCH more with the cards, but instead chose the most boring design I could think of. I hope they evolve over time if they continue with physical cards. I think it's a great idea.

They didn't get through all the portal winners Wed night I was told. I heard if you had a Wed night portal win they honored it on Thursday ? I am almost positive even if you did use your Wed portal win on Thursday they didn't give you the Spiderman promo card meant for Wed night. I wonder what they did with the leftover Spiderman promo cards. If they truly never put them into the world or people got them in a different way. But that is why there are less out there either temporarily or permanently.

My buddy had a PN lottery for UCC and said it was a fiasco. He was able to get in, but barely. I thought after last year UCC would have their act together, but it would appear not.

I think they could have maybe done a little more with the poses. But its funko why wouldnt they use their pop design. I like them a lot. With the different backgrounds and especially the different movie titles on top is great. I like the holograms and gold glitter. Again I don't know the meaning or purpose of a chase being a yellow corner saying convention exclusive when the card won't be a convention exclusive moving forward. The only convention exclusive ones will be the promos.
