I’m feeling kinda underwhelmed with Funko. I liked the chase , the low count- and I used to say please make it pre-order so there’s no flipping action, but there’s too many now.

yeah agree, I know it sucks when we don't get what we want, but I love the thrill of the hunt. MIss the days when I used to actually camp out for something.

I miss lining up every week every few days . Every new pop was thrill to get . Hard to come by . Tons of people in line , every exclusive was rare . Limited , always going out hanging with friends camping out at stores and places and events man . It’s was thrill and happy to been part of it during those times - hope we can get it back and start making things FUN again

The “hunt” is/was fun but I can see why overproducing helps when people want to collect
It does suck when you try to get a pop and there’s a line out the door and it sells out before you can get one
I think Funko does it right with convention pops too, especially the piece count

Only thing I’d change is if it’s a low count you come out with either a jumbo or chrome version sometime down the line
Like the haunted ghosts had a chrome 3 pack so that was cool
Thread of vaulted pops I’m selling, 1200 piece Chaos, SDCC Gus GiTD, SDCC Freddy’s ride, SDCC Whis and 9 other pops.

Getting your hands on something more limited always makes it more exciting. I don’t even bother to go crazy at sdcc anymore. Most of the exclusives go up on line.

I miss the days where Funko made a limited run and it was limited. I completely understand the idea of collectors being able to obtain a re-release to fill their gaps on their collection but there should be a variation of it. Just my thoughts.

Gosh, I used to have at least a dozen of the Brave Little Tailor cards from Lorcana. I wish I’d kept them instead of giving them away. My wife is still mad at me for giving away her card by mistake. She had 7 or 8 signatures on hers (she’d waited in line at D23 repeatedly to get the entire crew to sign it). I didn’t think she really wanted it because she’s not really into gaming. Boy, did I screw up. #-o

Not to rub in it but....ouch.

You really only see it at Fundays and sometimes at the booth now, but the fanbase is so large now, anything limited like it was even 5 years ago would be nigh impossible to get if they were to put it on their website, especially if they announce it ahead of time.

I wish there was a happy medium of the right amount of pops produced. I think with their renewed vision of running lean should help and only making lines that work.

It happens with any collection nowadays; supply and demand and FOMO are the frontrunners that make companies mass produce. It's always fun in the beginning, then eventually you get tired and overwhelmed. It was always fun tryin to hunt those chase pops out in the wild, but that time has come and gone.

Totally agree, the hunt for chases died when you can easily purchase the common/chase bundle from practically anywhere. :dontknow:

It felt good today to try and be first in line at hot topic for the chase. There was excitement.

I would have been 5th in line so there was no point in waiting as the store only had 2 chases.

That’s ok though. Sometimes you don’t win. I will just have to go earlier next time or try a different store.

Same here. It seems like they keep going back to the same franchises over and over again. Give some other ones a chance. There are so many other shows and movies that also have huge fan bases, especially nostalgic shows.

True, there are hundreds of licenses I’d like to see them tackle

Even if it is, we still get gems... however I was upset seeing the Monsters line that just dropped, I was hoping for something fresh or new molds but we got lines painted on instead...oh welll! What's next :)

Excuse my ignorance, but how exactly does Funko “vault” pops?

Vaulted means that they won’t produce it anymore. So whatever is out there is it.

I agree. They are a huge company, so they have licensed products they've been penned to release up to years in advance, so of course they'll have some interesting moments of over production, but it is very clear how much they've been turning things around. Will just take some time, and I enjoy the sprinkles of perfection they've been releasing as of late.

I didn't see that. Well the fact that they're listening and responding is pretty huge. I was always scared they would only focus on profits and not the community that helped build them

Yeah I wonder what’s up with the restocks. I’ve seen it happen recently. More than usual actually. Hopefully it gives the people who wanted them a chance to get them, but also doesn’t run the collector side by plummeting the market value.

The last couple of posts I’ve seen so far have been good. Looks like they’re moving in the right direction.

For initial drops I agree but they have been restocking way to much

Yeah I wonder what’s up with the restocks. I’ve seen it happen recently. More than usual actually. Hopefully it gives the people who wanted them a chance to get them, but also doesn’t run the collector side by plummeting the market value.

One thing I've noticed is people are definitely separating the restocks from the original run by showing the bottom of the box. Like the funko shop one piece chases, I don't think people are selling the first runs for cheaper

Yea but then you get shady sellers who won't post the bottom of the pop

I've seen that. Even at small events here I've had sellers with signs saying not to touch or no photos. Kinda makes me feel like they don't want us seeing if it's really an OG print or if it's fake. I could be a bit paranoid though. And online sellers who won't show all sides I move along

It’s not complaint I collect my Funko since 2015 . But just every thing lately has been bland . Besides a few releases . I’m hope 2024 for Funko they make some good changes towards the collector !!

I feel like they are in the entertainment business and its the same complain with Hollywood always making sequels and remakes. It's a huge investment for them, so they prefer to franchises that have sold well for them in the past (Marvel, Star Wars, etc). But I do agree they leaned a bit too heavy in some of their most popular franchises. Glad to see they are venturing out more with more anime, sports, comic book covers, and more obsecure stuff thru Droppp. 2024 is looking better so far!
