I’m replaying the OG 7 now before going directly in to the remake and rebirth. The level of detail to the story in these games is really impressive

Good to see a fellow FF9 fan, i don't see too many of us. I personally loved the story. Besides how can you not like Vivi
I only played it at first cuz it was the only copy my friend had but I ended up loving it. Found it on the Playstation store the other day so I'm gonna replay it soon
I always felt like 9 was underrated, it had a really really good story. I know the art was a little wonky to people but it definitely had a top tier storyline and some awfully amazing cut scenes as most final fantasy do.
I think FF8 doesn’t get as much praise because it was probably the most mature out of all of them. It didn’t carry the same light hearted tone as the others but I wouldn’t mind a Squall pop at all.
Hands down couldn't agree more, FF9 was my first Final fantasy game i ever played. After playing i was hooked and went back and played as many as i could from the past. FF8 was definitely a more mature story line.
As for license i'm kind of surprised funko hasn't gotten anything from them. Im wondering if square Enix just flat out doesn't want to be involved?

There are a few licenses on my wishlist that haven’t surfaced yet by Funko and I’m not too sure what the road block may be. It could be so many different things hypothetically but Funko is like the biggest collectibles company using third party IPs at this point. If not the biggest, pretty close. I don’t know if it’s a licensors thing or if it’s on the business end but a few that I’m waiting on Funko to acquire is:
Studio Ghibli
Nintendo (Mario and Zelda)
Final Fantasy
Chrono Trigger
Metal Gear Solid
Rockstar (Red Dead Redemption, Bully, GTA)
I know that sometimes with licensing, negotiations could be on going for years. I remember when collectors were wishing on a star for Pokemon and we talked about it quite a bit about it right here in the forum & it came to fruition after years of chatting about it so you really never know when Funko will make that break through in the licensing division. I personally think the licensing division is very good because they constantly look at what the fans want & try to make it come to fruition. I’ve seen numerous requests right here on the boards come alive.

We must have had the same gaming childhood growing up! Give me metal gear! Hideo Kojima is probably a tough person to allow licensing for his stuff i would assume.

I mean if Funko wanted to sell a bunch of pops these are definitely licenses that they need to focus on. Nintendo would be huge and I am sure they are desperately trying to get it or if not then nintendos demands are unreasonable. Hopefully with the popularity of the mario movie we see a breakthrough here so we could see this actually happen sometime in the next year or so

I thought for sure we would see Mario pops after the Mario movie released because Illumination was involved and from what I can tell Funko has a great relationship with illumination and tbh it still may be in the cards. I know sometimes negotiations for licenses go back and fourth for quite some time before they are able to seal the deal.

This has been talked about many times and I wish it would come to life. Not only are the characters themselves nostalgic but the art work associated with each game merged with the funko boxes would be fire. Can you imagine a Cloud on Motorcycle Pop ride ? (FF7)

I tried to play the Crisis Core re-release before Rebirth, but ended up just YouTubing the story for the refresher. Props to anyone that plays all of the OG before going into BOTH of the remakes.
And yeah, Rebirth is super long if you do all the side quests. I have a hard time not being a completionist there. I wonder how much time would be shaved off if I cut those corners.
For pops, flocked Rebirth Chocobo pops should definitely be a thing though!

Yeah, agreed above. FF7: Rebirth is long, but definitely worth the grind! However, trying to Plat the game... is a rough journey.. LOL
Definitely looking forward to the third installment! Still need to complete Crisis Core!

Re: Any hope for Final Fantasy Pops?
I finally finished FF7 Rebirth. From the 2 remakes games, I think my favorite characters that aren’t in the main crew would be Rude, Wedge, and Jessie. Honorable mention to Johnny. I’m hoping we can get some pop representation of FF7, even if it’s just Pop Queen’s Blood cards. FF-wide Pop Queen’s Blood or Triple Triad would be awesome.

WAY too niche so I didn't want to start its own thread, but figured it might fit in here since it's an SNES JRPG. I recently started playing Lunar: Silver Star Story, and man I'd kill for some Lunar Pops.

Re: Any hope for Final Fantasy Pops?
I was thinking about FF pops when I was thinking about Freddy as Cloud or Freddy as Sephiroth. I can see this being a successful franchise to be POP'd with so many unique molds

Tonberry are my favorite FF monsters, just imagine a10 inch one with a glowing lantern!
Would die to have one of those. I have a plush Tonberry and then a friend 3D printed a Cactuar for me as a present. I can't begin to describe how excited I would be to have some of these classic monsters.

A whole set of ff7 Pop when the Remake came out would have sold like hot cakes. I have friends who took days off work just to replay the game. Its a gold mine waiting to be hit

That would be incredible! This makes sense as a 10" version

YESSSSS I was thinking the exact same thing. X-2 would be ripe for different pop variations due to all the different dress spheres!
