Looking at the box art and the figure, it looks like something in the design changed. The figure's nose is blue, but on the box, it's white and the blue doesn't go as low on the box art.

It might not be so much that either though...I think what makes the Voltron face design so recognizable is because it's very rigid with geometric features whereas Jumbo Chan is more bubbly and curvy. It might not have translated well having the curvy/bubbly features on the Voltron face.

Perhaps it is also the pupils on Jumbo Chan? The eyes are yellow with pupils whereas Voltron doesn't have pupils. It might have actually worked better had they not given pupils to the eyes OR if they didn't use straight black for the pupils, but something more monochromatic with the yellow?

Yeah, I couldn't figure it out. But I agree Voltron is geometrical, and the bubbly round face throws it off.

Yeah you nailed it. The box art looks more humanoid whereas the figure looks animal. I think I'd actually like it more if it was Proto and they added dog ears.

It's definitely the blue that is supossed to be his visor that extends down to his nose that is throwing it off. The box art does not have the blue extending down to include the nose.

Weird that the box art and figure don’t match. I like the white nose on the box art more, but I do like the figure. Probably going to skip this one, but I am pretty sure I always say that and end up caving.

You beat me to it haha. I was going to point out the blue doesn’t go all the way down to the nose on the box art. And bringing the blue down kinda gives that animal look.
Maybe more white in the eyes would’ve been better?
- am I weird for still liking it? it’s a fun mold that I’m considering entering for. Also thank you Dave for helping clarify that this is technically Freddy. So really I’m adding to my Freddy collection if I get it. Sounds like a justified purchase to me. Hehe

I think you all pin pointed it. The blue coming all the way down gives it an animal kind of look you'd see in cartoons. It should be more separated like in the box art.

I continue to be impressed with the Jumbo Chan designs. When first announced, I didn't want to like them. But seeing the additional drops and seeing them in person, they all look great.

But this thread nailed it about the blue on the face making it look like a raccoon .

Normally anything Voltron I'd get but didn't like the face and pose for this one. If it had the sword and shield and face look more like Freddy then maybe. I agree on most comments that the face is just off.
