Buyer beware with the new marketplace

Postby Boomersooner123 » Wed Dec 18, 2024 7:14 pm

Just a warning to those buying on the new Solana Marketplace on Droppp. You need to make sure after the sale to check the status page to confirm the sale actually completed. If it says pending for more than a few minutes you are most likely going to get a failed transaction.

Just had my royalty set for TMNT taken away because the blockchain had an issue and didn't complete the purchase of an epic from last night. Checked prior to the snapshot and it states I had completed the royalty, checked after and no token. On top of that my USDC never returned to my wallet, so lost my royalty plus money was essentially stolen from me. Droppp also seems very apathetic to the situation as well.

Super frustrating and will only buy from atomic hub from now on but want to make sure this doesn't happen to others.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure they'll get it all figured out. I know that when I transferred my wallet, it took a bit of time to come over but eventually it all settled out.

Creating the new wallet was really difficult for me because of the security they wanted added when creating it. My older computer couldn't create a passcode. I had to log in with my newer laptop for the passcode option. So I now can't access my droppp account from my older computer ever. Wish there had been an option to use a google authenticator but no matter what i tried I couldn't get it to not require me entering a USB Windows Passkey which I absolutely do not have LOL.

Once I did get the wallet converted though, my USDC was in there instantly. Hopefully the Droppp team can look into your issue and find a resolution.

Wow!!! Really sorry to hear about you losing out. I've bought and sold on Atomic but haven't tried on Droppp yet. Good to know.

I liked selling on Droppp because of USDC, Wax fluctuates so much I don't want to gamble with the value however the new marketplace was terrible for me. Droppp told me there's nothing they could do, showed them the screenshots with everything. Really mad over it, wish I used atomic hub :-({|=

Same, I keep wondering how long it will be until devices can do biopsies for authentification purposes. "We would love to let you check your email, but we just need a sample of your liver first." lol

I did see a message about how purchases you think you made might not actually happen when I made my first purchase after moving to the new wallet, but as far as I can tell, the transaction went through. They absolutely should not show it in your inventory until it is actually there. How close to the redemption snapshot was your attempted purchase? Is the Digital Pop in your collection now, it just didn't get there in time for the snapshot?

If the Digital Pop still isn't in your collection, how could you lose both the item and the USDC? Are they really not helping you? It seems like there should be a clear chain of custody for the USDC. Isn't keeping track of all this digital nonsense what all the compilcated sign-in procedures, data centers, and carbon-neutral pledges are about?

Sorry for the questions, but, despite my first tentative steps into this word, I have been generally suspicious of this whole enterprise (why can't I use real money in the marketplace, but Funko requires it to purchase packs?), and would love to hear how your situation plays out.

I made the purchase the night before as I know if you make it so close to redemption it might not register. I had my money deducted so I assumed everything was ok. Checked in the morning prior to redemption and my tracker said I had the royalty set and then after the snapshot didn't and the transaction page then showed it failed. I contacted droppp with screenshots showing I made the purchase the night before and my tracker showing the royalty and they couldn't care any less. Said they "were looking into" why my USDC wasn't refunded but they couldn't do anything about the actual redemption. I am beyond livid about it, money stolen and a lost royalty through no fault of my own. There is no way of knowing if a sale will fail especially with money being taken out. Beyond ridiculous.

Dang. That's beyond frustrating. If you have blockchain records of everything - hopefully Droppp will help out if you keep on them and get to the right person.

I agree with you there. Sadly, these days, you probably have to have a social media presence to get them to do the right thing. Maybe reach out to one of the YouTube channels that doesn't mind being critical of Funko when they do something wrong. It is hard to believe you are the only person it happened to. Good luck!

This is a good idea. Reach out to the Gastlecast, or post on Instagram and tag them. They aren't afraid to call out things like that.
