Golden Ticket 2 pack is up for auction

Postby geekygent78 » Sat Feb 07, 2026 2:15 pm

Has everyone seen this? This particular pop showed up on social with a guy trying to sell it on the Pawn Stars show, asking for $2M. Of course, the owner said no. I remember when the pop made the news selling for $220,000 if I remember correctly. Now, it is currently going for $175,000ish. Either way, this is the most expensive funko pop out there. Distrackers posted a few days ago, saying the pop was currently at $3,500 and had 21 days left in the auction.

What are we guessing the winning bid will be? I'm going to guess... $190k. Just over ppg because in an auction there are a lot of snipers, who wait to the last minute to make a bid, and auctions usually get a bit more because people get caught up in the moment.

This was one of my favorite Fundays. I would have loved to get a golden ticket that night and get one of these 2-packs. That being said, I can't see paying that much for any pop, even with its rarity.

The story behind this pop is crazy. 6 to the employees and 4 were given to people who received a golden ticket. So there are only 4 that come with the golden ticket. Insane. I would never pay that amount of money for a pop, unless I was a billionaire of course, because then it could be considered an investment lol.

There can only be a handful of people that could “invest” in a funko pop with that price tag. I’m genuinely curious how high it’s going to go.

I remember 2016 being my first sdcc and I had no idea about fundays so it would’ve been cool if I went to that event and got that two pack. Really cool to see it being listed but that’s gonna cost a ton.
Thread of vaulted pops I’m selling, 1200 piece Chaos, SDCC Gus GiTD, SDCC Freddy’s ride, SDCC Whis and 9 other pops.

Take care and have an awesome day.

What other holy grails do you think would reach/ come close to this level?

Less than half of what it went for - I think part of that is truly just the rarity of it so I'm not all that surprised.
Would be interesting if another pop/set comes out with that type of desire and/or rarity. I think the closest in recent times were the Ahsoka ones from the would-be Hall-H boxes.

I can't believe it went for such a low price at auction when it was just sold for double that. Remember when it was worth like 300k? How the market tumbles.

I'd have to sell my house to even make a bid. Honestly if I could I would buy it. Even though Funko pops have been declining in value. It would stay in my collection forever. I know some would say that I'm crazy but I don't care.

I had a long talk with my wife who is an Econ teacher about this; I think she even had a discussion about it in her class. Something about there being so few of them makes it hard for a market to ever be truly set for it. I mean, there are more copies Action Comics #1. So hard to put a price tag on this.

I think (and I'd love for you to ask her as the educator, if this has any merit in her mind) if the market is now so saturated with Funkos as a whole, and demand has wained as Funko has experienced so much volatility at the executive level and trying to pivot and find some footing to get back to the juggernaut it once was, if that has caused the collectible value and inherent monetary value of limited edition pops once worth hundreds of thousands to plummet so far that it would only attract a mere fraction of what it would have sold for 5 years ago. Look at Pop Mart and the Labubus, a case of them used to sell for $300 a year ago, now people are selling them for $100 on FB marketplace to get rid of them and no one is buying. Seems like a micro model of the macro fifteen year value of Funkos IMO.

We've talked about this a ton! For one thing: the values of five years ago on a lot of things in the collectibles space were spiking because of stimulus checks. Comic book values were insane for a while there. I think the same sort of thing hit Funko.

Now, to your point on the executive level...I think that some of the changes within the company itself could have caused some of this, but the general public probably doesn't know about it. I do think that over saturation played a key role, though. Plus, tastes are just fickle.

It was definitely those checks. I remember people blindly buying pops over PPG simply because they now had "free" money

That's probably my money that you made!

Just kidding. In all seriousness, though, a lot of people had some good foresight during that period; I just wasn't one of them.
