.I was on the board yesterday, but forgot to post. No surprise there.
I was checking out my collection--as i often do since it's in my den and I see it most every day--and really appreciated the nuance of Mike Becker; well, really the nuance of some of the Wobblers that Mike made. The pair that caught my eye on this particular musing were the two Bazooka Joes. A classic ad icon, for sure. In the mid-60s I was a HUGE Bazooka bubble gum fan. A piece of gum cost 1 cent and every piece came with a Bazooka Joe comic. Most fun a kid could have for a penny.
I checked online and could only find one version of the Bazooka logo, and it always started with a red "B". Even in the comic, when Joe was shown in full length, his t-shirt had a red "B". I loved how Mike made two versions, one starting with a red "B" (LE 4,000) and one starting with a blue "B" (LE 2,000). And he made sure the box matched the Wobbler, as well. [I'm not sure it was actually Mike who came up with the idea; could have been Wilky or Rob Schwartz, but it was Mike's baby.] Not an exciting metallic or neon colorway, just a simple reversal of the letter colors. It's one of my favorite variations. I guess I'm just easy to please.
