No offense to anyone but I think this is an urban legend to get people worked up. Why would Mike put a super rare wobbler like a gold Tommy Lipuma in a $20 mystery box and not give it to someone like Riot who needs it to complete his collection?

Well, I guess anything is possible, but I know your reputation Mike of taking care of your loyal collectors so it only made sense to me that you would want to make sure someone like Riot would get such a gem like a Gold Tommy Lipuma.

I think Mike is enjoying keeping us in suspension still
That's a good Funko legend.. Maybe it ought to stay this way? Keep us entertained
"The mystery of the Golden Lipuma"
On a serious note, I am sure that there are many good people who would treasure it as well. We already know though, that Mike doesn't have it.. So does that mean he gave away his last one? And if youi look at LGW, it says that Funko kept two of them, and the rest went to the Verve Music Group.

OK...here's the scoop....
I was told that some long hauling truck driver named Lenny, from Oxnard got it. He told Mike that it would be "real neat" to place it on his dashboard. That's the story! That's the whole story...
So if you find yourself cruising west bound on Highway 40, just outside of El Paso, tapping out the tempo of a Rick Isaac classic...and you see a glinting, partially balding, eye glass wearing little feller tapping to the smooth glide of highway bumps on a truckers blue velvet lined dashboard...it might just be Lenny the truck driver haulin another load of California Cheese east bound because as we all know...nobody makes cheese like the happy cows of California!
No virginia...there is a Lenny out there and he's hauling gold! (and cheese)

I heard about that...I believe it too. I didn't really get to talk with the COF at great length..But from what I saw in the guy, he's VERY generous...Why shouldn't it go to a non-collector? Just a normal dude who drops twenty box on a mystery box...I say it's fair...Sure, I would have liked to have it, but no biggie. I saw people looking inside the surprise boxes...I didn't feel like that was cool, but I was VERY happy with what I ended up with...Better that gold Lipuma touring the highways of our great nation on a truckers dashboard...rather on one of OUR shelves...Just my

I just got off the CB and Lenny said that he just pulled into Branson...He's looking to get a ticket to The John Davidson Theater for tonight's show with The Captain & Tannille! He told me that Gold Tommy is sitting proud on the dash (he caught a bug in his teeth just outside of Galveston but no worse for the wear...). He also said that he Super Glued Gold Tommy to the dash...
If anyone has any pull in Branson and an get Lenny a great seat for tonights performance...well...can you help a brother out?

Ok, I'm probably opening up a can of worms, but here goes.
What's wrong with Mike giving ANY Wobbler to ANYONE he pleases? After all, they are HIS to give. I think it's awesome for him to give away a Gold LiPuma, whether it be to a Super Collector or a kid on the street.
The COF's generousity isn't limited to an elite group of collectors, and I think that's what makes his gifts even more special. It seems like some collectors think he "Owes it" to them. And to those people I say-You just don't get it!

It's all Augie's fault! BTW, how much a pound are them cans O'worms going for these days?:winking:
If we knew what Mike was/is going to do next...there would be no anticipation (que music and slow pouring catsup/ketchup bottle). There are those who drum and those who follow the drummer...Mike (and Shannon) are drummers! :drummer: (OK, so Mike is more of a basses :bass: but you get my point.) To give the Gold Li Puma to one of the "great collectors" (that's a pretty pretentious statement in and of itself) would be kind of anti-climatic and after Comic Con '04 (and FFD2 & FFD1), Mike is anything but anti-climatic.
I think it would be awesome if some non-collector was given a Gold Li Puma! In a strange way...that means I still have a chance to score it (as does everyone else!) If it is given to a collector...it will never see the light of day. Oh yea, Mike just gave me one of his cars...
He's like that! :xmassmilie:
Besides, Lenny doesn't like ebay...so I doubt he'll be putting it up soon, breaker-breaker good buddy!

But how would Mike know it was a non-collector at first place? Did he ask him or her? Or is it a presumption that it was (if this is true) a non-collector? For all we know, it could have been me, without him knowing who I was.
I wonder how heavy is Tommy..
:beatnik:
Anyway, I don't believe that it's any of our business to whom a person gives this and that gifts. A gift is a gift, it doesn't matter who you are or to whom you giv iet, just as a BOF is a BOF.. It could have been Otto (or maybe it is?) Mateo, Lenny the truck driver...blah blah.. Makes no difference.
Anyone even saw this wobbler at the Comic Con? I didn't see it.
What is the origin of this rumor anyway?

If you are referring the real booth in the last CC, I'd recommend the Freddy exclusives first, that were in the BOFs. Secondly, I'd recommend the Kool Aids. Basically, I'd explain to him the whole deal about the 48 and all that, and would recommend him to invest in those while the opportunity sits there. So basically, if he likes the 48s, etc, then I'd encourage him.
If he or she likes the Spastik Plastiks I'd encourage them to get the exclusive.
But if he is limited in money and space, then the Freddys would b e number one choice, they are always the most requested wobblers and the limit ones.
Besides, Freddy is what Funko all about!
I'd also ask him what is he into at. Cereals? Cartoons? Scary?

Oh, maybe I misunderstood Mike's post then. I thought he was asking us what we would say if someone asks (Mike used present tense, so I didn't think it was something that happened in the past).
But I can see how that can happen! Buying a BOF and then Tommy just popped out.
Question: You see a collector who has the Tommy, but has no clue to its worth, wants to trade with you. Do you a) give him a lesson in Funkonism, or b) do you keep your mouth shut, and proceed with the trade pretending it's no biggie.
Technically, you are not ripping him off. This doesn't make you a liar, but.. then there is the conscience thing... But then.. this is one of a kind wobbler!
Personally, I my conscience will get in the way

I would ask them which one they liked the best. And that would be my recommendation, whether it is a Pete the Pepper, an Outback Roo, or a Gold Lipuma.
My first was a Rat Fink (regular) and that's because he jumped off of the shelf to me!
