Robby the Robot vs B9 color variations

Postby icemanfan44 » Sat Aug 04, 2012 7:56 pm

I wish I could find Jay's picture of his Robby the Robot collection. I am trying to figure out how many color variations there were of each robot. Production numbers would help too. I know there are two different B9 variants that are limited to 12 made. I think the lowest for Robby was 48 but I am not certain. Anyone have the numbers?

There were 3 Robby SDCC exclusives - 480s each (I think; possibly 240)
Also a Platinum Club Robby (pink 48)
and a blue chase

6 total for the Robby's then. Now to count the B9. No chase for the B9 was there?

Does anyone know if there were protos made of all of the Robby color variations or just the Silver and Blue versions? I'm assuming there is a white one out there somewhere.

Very rarely if ever are protos made of any color variation......especially when there are several of them.

I loved the B-9 robot until the incredibly expensive 12 piece versions showed up.......then I lost interest. I also sold my all white proto to another Funatic that desired it very much for his massive collection, so I just stuck to the original piece and that is all I own.

I love those Saucerman From Mars pieces..........boy did they command big bucks back in the day!

I've caught the sci-fi flu. So I'm looking to track down some of these cool protos and production pieces. The B-9s, Saucerman From Mars, Gorts, Robby the Robots, Metropolis... all of them are really cool.

I was so tempted to collect the Robby robots, but decided to pick the B-9's and stick with just those--mostly because I was a big fan of Lost in Space as a kid. The sci-fi Wobblers are definitely cool.

Just noticed that the green B-9 is discounted on gemini for $99.99. Great price for a le 12. He also has the Blue one, but it's a bit pricier.

That is a good price, but my memory is foggy about the production run. When I bought mine, I thought it was a 1/12 too, but in looking at the sticker on the box in the pic (in this thread) it looks like it says 48. Or does it say 480 and that's because the green B9 is the chase to the gold B9 from that same SDCC (2012)--the gold B9 was a 480--and the green B9 just didn't have it's own sticker.

Guess that's why I write most things down nowadays--memory ain't what it used to be. Who was at Fundays in 2012 that remembers?

The green B-9 Robot was not really a fundays exclusive. It appeared after the CC2012 on Gemini's website as an exclusive. It never made it to San Diego.

I think I cleared this up with Carol's help. Gemini's site lists it as a chase and Carol has it written down that it's a 1/12 chase. So, if it's the chase to the 2012 SDCC 1/480 gold B9, then 1/12 makes sense enough.
