Trading arrangement idea

Postby Boomers Lament » Sat May 10, 2014 2:35 pm

1) Everyone hates getting duplicates

2) But everyone loves the mystery aspect of opening up the box, and only then discovering who you have

3) Many people (including me) refuse to buy used characters because it would be like "cheating" to get them

Here is my idea for a work around:

Step 1 : Post a list of characters you would like

Step 2 : Look through posts of other people with their requests

Step 3: Arrange a "box trade" with someone who wants someone that you have a duplicate of

Step 4: (This requires trust) Wait patiently for the boxes to arrive

Step 5: Open up your box...to a win win situation! No chance of getting ANOTHER duplicate, plus you are still surprised because you won't know exactly who you will be getting, just someone you don't have yet.

What do you guys think of this idea?

It's a good idea, except that on this board, I believe this sort of thing should be posted in the "Collector's Sales and Trades" forum, and there are restrictions there. Probably want to ask a mod.

You would probably have to only do one trade at a time, update your list and then initiate another. If you do 2-3 at a time without updating you might get multiple Tyrions defeating the purpose of no duplicates. Having that said I love the idea, I have a ton of duplicate GoT and Walking Dead but need some DC and Marvel.

This is a great idea, but yeah, I don't think you can trade until you've been on the boards for 180 days and made at least 150 posts.

This idea has already been tried and unfortunately there really are not enough people on the board who have a real interest in trading. I ran a special trading post just for minis. I kept it open for months and only two people traded. The trading post is closed. The only option is to post a "Want To Trade" in these section and you must have 100 posts and 6 months in order to post in that section.
