Need UPC/EAN barcodes on boxes that are exclusives

OK... so I am putting together my barcode scanning apps (Android, iOS) for helping people manage their Funko POP! collection. Getting the UPC/EAN barcodes for normal items in the stores is easy to add to my database. I just look on the bottom of the box and get them (or look online).

But what has been difficult has been the EXCLUSIVES... Comic Cons, glow in the darks, Hot Topic, Walmart, you name it. I NEED YOUR HELP!

If you have an exclusive, can you please look on the bottom of your box and post the UPC barcodes (12 digits) on this thread? List the item you are posting it for in detail please, so I know what the barcode belongs to.

Good idea... If you contribute 5 or more barcodes of exclusive items, I will give you the apps that I am making for free (Android is already out, iOS on the way). Is that an OK deal?

good idea in theory, but it doesn't always work like you're hoping. i mean, some of the store exclusives might have unique barcodes, but if you're simply talking about variants of characters, the barcode won't help. a chase version -- glow, metallic, etc. -- has the same barcode as the regular version. the sdcc versions are also the same barcodes as the regulars. they all use the same box, just slapping a sticker on the front window.

so, for instance...

- TDK Batman is the same barcode as SDCC Patina Batman
- Regular Tobias Funke is the same barcode as Blue Man Tobias Funke

You are correct. Some exclusives do have unique barcodes, and others don't, so I am trying to find out which ones have the unique barcodes.

The app does take this into account. If you scan an item and it comes up different from what you expect (as in, you have a Glow version and the non-Glow comes up) you are able to manually add that item anyway via the Database Search method. Your item is then saved into the system as a "no code" item but still searchable by the rest of the users... so other users can then add that new item added.

Hopefully that makes sense.

In the case of chase pieces, which feature the same box # and same barcodes, the app should be able to allow you to specify which piece you want to "check off". That way, the next time it scan the same barcode it knows you mean the "unchecked" version. Make sense?

The app just has to be altered to allow for multiple scans. It would make more sense to just update the app with ALL the variants, exclusives, etc... and allow the user to physically search for and check off the Pops they have. Like one huge encyclopedia checklist. Essentially, throwing out the barcode idea. (which is good but with all the variants harder to program)

The reason I have the barcode scanning in is because it makes it quick and easy for most people to add 99% of their collection in the list quickly. It's also a quick way to add items to your Wishlist when at a store, and allows for new items to be added by users quickly.

The barcode scanning isn't the perfect solution, true. But you don't have to use it either... Database Search can be used for the variant/exclusives.

Barcodes are not required to add new items.

I like the idea. Like some have said the barcode for variants may be the same but if you give the option to have some items with the same barcode and we can just check off the ones we have that sound good. I can send you some barcodes once I get some free time in the next day or so
