
What I didn't report back then was there was a bit of a peculiarity about this proto. I reached out to a few Funatics to ask their opinions, as well as an early owner of this piece. So, first, take a look at a few pics so you can see what I saw.

Pretty cool, huh. I will admit, my first thought was that the Chinese were spying on Funko to learn all their vinyl secrets. But in reality, the device is a bit big for a clandestine listening device made by a world power--at least in the modern era--and it would have had more batteries, as well. I also wondered if it could have been someone at Funko playing around to add sound to this guy.
I heard back from Todd (Sting) who was an early owner of this bad boy. This is what he told me, "That is what makes that proto rare. It was originally going to be a talking Sylvester."
If anyone else has some insights into this piece, I'd sure love to hear them. Meanwhile, he's one cool wax proto. And just in case, I don't talk about anything very important in front of him.
