If You're Not Careful, You Could Miss It

Postby Scotty » Thu Oct 24, 2013 11:48 pm

I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say...there is a LOT of Funko. And hunting those special pieces that you just must have in your collection is soooo much fun. But you have to be careful or you could miss it. Miss what you say? Well, almost anything. A color variant you didn't know that existed or an obscure, limited production run that no one but the Funatics with 10 stars knew about.

It's not like my recent discovery was the find of the century--not even the find of the month--but I was so caught by surprise that it made me smile and shake my head.

I thought I had all the LTJ Evo Kids--all three banks and all the mini-Wobblers. Problem is, I thought there were only 5 minis: 4 colorways and one GITD. The evidence to the contrary was pretty easy to find--if you paid attention: on http://www.funkospreadsheet.com; in the LTJ checklist in the Lists section where Carol Lynn (the board expert on LTJ) not only provided a list but pictures. But I somehow missed it.

My mini GITD Evo Kid had black features and a black "LTJ" on his chest. But while I was researching the production runs on my LTJ wobblers I found info that said the original Evo Kid mini was a run of 3000 and the ALL WHITE GITD version was a run of 1000. All white? Mine had a face drawn on it and a logo on its chest. What the he!! is this "all white" one? Sure enough, I had a different GITD mini. Cool. But that meant I was missing one and I thought that set was complete. ](*,)

Later that day I went into the dining room to turn up the heat. Our dining room table has turned into a repository of Funko we're not quite sure what to do with yet--mostly the stuff I'm thinking of selling or gifting. I looked down, and sitting right on the corner of the table was the 'all white' Evo Kid GITD mini-Wobbler. You've got to be kidding me!!

I knew I had two GITD Evo Kids, I just didn't know there were two versions. I had gotten the second one as a gift from Robert1313 (a very generous Funatic indeed) a couple of months ago. It was on the table because I was going to gift it to someone else because I thought I already had it. Let's just say that was a LOT of fun finding that new piece of Funko in my own house and he his now happily hanging out with a whole slew of LTJ vinyl. So, I guess a little late, thank you very much Robert. It really made my day.

Gotta love that! Its the small things, isn't it? Like finding a chase bossk wobbler on eBay for 8 bucks even though you already have one...but I digress. Congrats Scott!

I remember getting mine. They were sold at LTJ concerts - $5 I think. Went to the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd in LA just to grab as many as I could. They would only sell me 5 - thought I was an eBayer, but they went to board members. LTJ were LOUD!

I got mine from going to an LTJ concert in Minneapolis. They were selling the GITD LTJ PEZ kids and the initial color version they did at first (before the boxed set).

yep, there are many small variations that if you are not careful u will miss.

Like pink tongue / red tongue charlie tuna -- pink tongue is rarer.

dr evil with a name on the base or no name on the base. -- no name is rarer

KYC with different base colors and writing

space ace with translucent lettering on the box or solid lettering to name just a few.

krinble and kringle :)

Got mine at a concert too. Ran into a radio host outside the venue and they got me in for free. It was an awesome day!
